599. Route 299 is from: (a) Route 101 near Arcata to Route 5 at Redding via Weaverville. (b) Route 5 at Redding to Route 395 at Alturas. (c) Route 395 near Alturas to the Nevada state line via Cedarville. F&E System Route 299 from: (a) Route 101 near Arcata to Route 5 at Redding. (b) Route 5 at Redding to Route 395 at Alturas. History This route used to be federally funded, therefore it was named U.S. 299 and had a nice, pointy white sign. Thanks to the legislative changes of 1964, it's no longer a federal route.
