1984: Portion from Surf to Lompoc deleted, presumably due to, uhm, total lack of interest. East of Lompoc on Purisima Road is the Mission of La Purisima Concepcion and its State Historical Park north on Purisima Road east of Lompoc. This park's main attraction is Mission La Purisima, the most completely restored Franciscan mission in California's string of twenty-one, as mentioned in California State Parks. Other attractions include the visitor center, which introduces the mission to visitors through dioramas, artifacts, exhibits, and a pictoral history; a 14-mile network of park trails, a self-guided tour, and the Cuclillo de Tierra Loop, which loops around the Burton Mesa, located in the park for your treading pleasure. Other facilities include picnic sites and horse trails. For more information, call (805)733-1303. At Route 101 is Buellton. Here, you can stop at Pea Soup Andersen's to try their famous split pea soup and its adjacent Best Western for a good night's rest. Along the way you'll be seeing a great deal of wineries right along the Santa Ynez River. Among these are Sanford Winery, Babcock Winery & Vineyards, Mosby Wines, and Gainey Vineyard. These wineries and more are listed in the Santa Barbara County Wine Guide. This is the main route to that little Denmark known as Solvang. The Danish Country Inn should be located south along Mission Drive. Also nearby is the Mission of Santa Ines. The Chimney Sweep Inn and the Storybook Inn are a few lodging pads you can stay over.
