California's Route 245

      Route 245 is from Route 198 to Route 180 near the General
Grant Grove section of Kings Canyon National Park.  [CH&SC Sec. 545]



1964-1965:  Route 245 was from Route 5 near Los Angeles to
Route 60 at the intersection of Downey Road.
1972-present:  Current route defined as a renumbering of former
Route 69.



      The General Grant Grove section of Kings Canyon NP is
home to the third largest tree in the world, the General
Grant.  Numerous trails abound, as well as three campsites,
the Grant Grove Lodge, two picnic areas, and horseback riding.
Route 245 doesn't take you directly into General Grant Grove.
Instead, you must continue onto Route 180 east to reach it.
There, you will find the Grant Grove Visitor Center, where you
can obtain more information.

Route 198 to Route 201:  California Legal (40-foot KPRA).
Route 201 to Route 180:  The KPRA advised for the route is less
than 30 feet.
