1964-1965: Route 245 was from Route 5 near Los Angeles to Route 60 at the intersection of Downey Road. 1972-present: Current route defined as a renumbering of former Route 69. The General Grant Grove section of Kings Canyon NP is home to the third largest tree in the world, the General Grant. Numerous trails abound, as well as three campsites, the Grant Grove Lodge, two picnic areas, and horseback riding. Route 245 doesn't take you directly into General Grant Grove. Instead, you must continue onto Route 180 east to reach it. There, you will find the Grant Grove Visitor Center, where you can obtain more information.
