538. Route 238 is from Route 680 in Fremont to Route 61 near San
Lorenzo via Hayward.
Entire Route.
The portion from Route 880 to Route 580 is signed as an Interstate highway.
With "road geeks" at hand, you can start millions of bar fights just by mentioning the number.
The thing is that this route got Interstate funding! Here are a few violations to that idea, all of them
dealing with the route number:
a) There's no Interstate in the entire nation numbered Route 38!
b) Route 38 as it would've been, wouldn't even come close to San Francisco or Oakland
according to the Interstate rules. It would've been south of Route 40, which is an Interstate.
Heck, this route shouldn't even be dignified with a picture at the top of this page!
