Route 204 is from Route 58 to Route 99 near Bakersfield via
Union Avenue and Golden State Avenue.
From Route 99 to Route 178. It is not in the Freeway and Expressway System. This is awkwardly called Golden State Avenue.
Several points of interest are located off Chester Avenue. The Metropolitan Recreation Center, the Kern County Museum, and Pioneer Village are to the north, while the San Joaquin Community Hospital is to the south.
This was a former routing of U.S. Route 99. The deleted portion south of Route 58 serves as Business Route 99. The interchange between Routes 99 and 204, and Airport Drive, is the "Richard Alan Maxwell Memorial Interchange", named after the slain state traffic officer who was killed in the line of duty on July 11, 1994. |
