California's Route 193

Route 193 is from:

  • (a) Route 65 near Lincoln to Route 80 near Newcastle.

    History

  • 1972: Formerly ended at Route 49. The portion from Route 49 to Route 50 transferred from Route 49.
  • 1984: The portion from Route 49 to Route 50 transferred to Route 49.

    Points of Interest

    Somewhere around Kelsey is Marshall's Blacksmith Shop. Located on the Gray Eagle Mine property, the shop was built in 1872-73. James Marshall, who in 1848 discovered gold near Coloma (see Route 153), not only was a smithy but also a qualified carpenter.

    Truck Routes and Terminal Access

  • Route 65 to Sierra College Boulevard - 2.5 miles east of Lincoln, 3 miles east of Route 65: California Legal (40-foot KPRA).
  • Sierra College Boulevard to Route 80: The KPRA advised for this route is less than 30 feet.
  • Route 49 at Cool to Route 49 - End Route 193 near Placerville: The KPRA advised for this route is less than 30 feet.

    Notes

    To get from the western portion of Route 193 to its eastern portion, head east on Route 80 and then west on Route 49. Follow Route 49 until you find Route 193 to the left.
