Route 162 is from:
State highway routes embracing portions of Routes 280, 82, 238, 101, 5, 72, 12, 37, 121, 87, 162, 185, 92, and 123 and connecting city streets and county roads thereto, and extending in a continuous route from Sonoma southerly to the international border and near the route historically known as El Camino Real shall be known and designated as "El Camino Real." Lake Oroville State Recreation Area is at the eastern end of Route 162, right before the Bidwell Bar Bridge. Rainbow trout and large- and small-mouth bass, along with German browns, catfish, silver salmon, and Kokanee salmon are prevalent in this reservoir. When the reservoir reaches at maximum elevation, boating is allowed. There are two campsites in the park: Loafer Creek, with 137 developed sites, and Bidwell Canyon, with 82 sites. For more info, call (916)534-2732. The original Bidwell Bar Bridge was the first suspension bridge in California, constructed in 1856. It was replaced by a new one in 1965.
