California's Route 10

310. Route 10 is from: (a) Route 1 in Santa Monica to Route 5 near Seventh Street in Los Angeles. (b) Route 101 near Mission Road in Los Angeles to the Arizona state line at the Colorado River via the vicinity of Monterey Park, Pomona, Colton, Indio, and Chiriaco Summit and via Blythe. 641. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, route shield signs shall be placed by the department on Interstate Highway 10 between Blythe and Beaumont so as to designate the highway as both Interstate Highway 10 and U.S. Highway 60. {1968} F&E System Entire route. [CS&HC Sec. 253.1] Freeway Entire route. Part (a) is known as the Santa Monica Freeway. The first piece was open in 1961. Part (b) is known as the San Bernardino Freeway. Carpool and Bus Lanes Currently, there's a commuter lane to the left, of course, between El Monte west to Route 710. From Route 710 it continues to the north side of the freeway, heading towards downtown L.A. In about 4 miles, the busway ends in downtown, near Route 101, Olvera Street, and the Union Station. People give this busway the name El Monte Busway. Status Signed as an interstate highway. History Part (b) roughly followed what used to be U.S. Route 70. I hope I get more info on this. Part (b) definately followed what used to be U.S. Route 60. The cited section in the California Streets and Highways Code is living proof of this. This should explain the mysterious double-signing phenomenon that occurs when you head west from Palm Springs to the current junction of Route 60 in Beaumont. Scenic Route 10 from Route 38 near Redlands to Route 62 near Whitewater. [CS&HC Sec. 263.3] Notes Routes 5 and 10 are the main interstates in Los Angeles. Moreover, Routes 5, 10, 60, and the 101 all meet in this very big web of ramps known as the East L.A. Interchange. Cal State Los Angeles, a Metrolink station, and busway stop, is at Eastern Avenue and head north. The Fairplex in Pomona is where the annual Los Angeles County Fair is held. Many concerts, exhibitions, horse and car races, and, until some time ago, gun shows are held here regularly. To get there, exit at Fairplex Drive and head north. Ontario is located off Route 10 at Route 83 and southward. Ontario International Airport is also around. Heading west, get off on Holt Avenue; heading east and get off on Vineyard Avenue and southward. California State Highways (Pull-down) California State Highways (Tables) The Main Page
