QUIPAYO 1578 As historical landmark…..
WHEREAS, The Constitution of the Philippines provides that “ The State shall promote and popularize the nation’s historical and cultural heritage and resources”;

WHEREAS, Presidential Decree no. 260,dated august 1, 1973, specifically vested the National Historical Institute, a cultural agency attached to the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, and an institution affiliated to the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts, with the authority and duty to conserve and protect the historical and cultural heritage of the country;

WHEREAS, Quipayo was established as a town in 1578 by Franciscan Missionaries, Fr.Pablo de Jesus and Fr. Bartolome Ruiz;

WHEREAS, the Quipayo mission included the visit of Ligmanan(Libmanan), Bangon (Siruma), Calabangan (Calabanga), and Bombon;

WHEREAS, as one of the earliest structures built during the Spanish regime in the region, the Church of Quipayo still stands an enduring symbol of Catholicism in Bicol.

NOW THEREFORE, The National Historical Institute, by virtue of the power vested in it by Presidential Decree no. 1505, dated June 11,1978, hereby declares the CHURCH OF QUIPAYO in Calabanga, Camarines Sur, A National Historical Landmark.

By being Church of the Poor and by becoming a community of Christ’s disciples, the Immaculate Conception parish of Quipayo, Calabanga, Camarines Sur will be a witnessing Catholic Christian Community.

2. To be an evangelizer:Response to God’s call; Service to serve God and Other; Sharing Love to others;
