ABOUT THE QUIPAYO COMMUNITY

Evangelization, The first and final work done by the Spanish missionaries in these part of the Philippines, finds its efforts worthwhile in the inspiration and guidance of the the Holy Spirit, through the efforts of its Parish priests and its Parish Executive Committee . This life giving work has developed and borne fruit in our midst through the experience of a Church that is sincerely trying to touch the lives of its people, speak their language, draw from the richness of their unique cultural heritage, and provide meaning to their hopes and aspirations.
Today with the same divine inspiration and with ever greater confidence, we are being called to move towards becoming the church of life, love, justice and peace that the Lord Jesus wants us to be. The Parish is working together for a church that is truly of the poor and for the poor, where everyone's gifts , especially those of the laity, are recognized and shared , a church that is expectantly open to the manifold graces the Lord of all ages will pour us, in a springtime of grace.

Functioning an important role in the activities of the Parish is the Kindergarten Feeding Center-Holy Childhood Association(KFC-HCA) adjacent to the parish rectory. It is made of permanent materials with a floor area of 6X12 meters provided with light and water facilities.

The edifice is not only housing the kindergarteners ages 4-6 years but also serving as a conference hall , formation center and soe social activities of the parish and some non-government groups. Infornt of the building is a big umbrella for the kindergartners play area and an extension in times of a bigger crowd.

THE CASTILLO

The Castillo or what we call the Ceremonial Tower is the new project of the parish today. Upon the advise of the Mun. Engineer that it is already dilapidated and unsafe , the old castillo was demolished to give way to the construction of a new one which is thrice as strong as the old one and quite modern and unique in design. With an estimated project cost of 300,000.00 construction of Phase I commenced last Feb. 2000 sources of fund came from local resources such as the Search for Little Mr. and Miss Quipayo, solicitation letters, Family Pledges and the 1 Million Signature Campaign.

At present the Castillo is on its Phase II construction, The parish Pastoral Council through its Parish priest is conducting an oplan second collection on all masses on Sundays and Parish Pa Raffle for the Castillo and is now on its World Wide Web Solicitation of kind hearted individuals and organizations or institutions who can extend their helping hands for an urban poor parish, poor in finances but rich in hospitality and resources.

CONCLUSION :

Today , there are about 8,902 Catholics served by the Parish which are 99.8 % of the entire population. Truly we could say that the inhabitants of Quipayo have faithfuly adhered to the Catholic Faith that had been their legacy from those Holy Friars who devoutly planted the seed of faith so that today we should not live in the darkness of paganism but rather in the light of the truth in the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST.
