Biohazards
and Secret Sauce See-Saw to Settle the
Score

In
the final regular season game, with
little but pride on the line, both squads
brought their speed to bear in a fast
contest that saw several lead changes.
Neither team could manage to get a two-goal
lead on the other. Both used the close
game as motivation to hustle more to find
an edge - any edge - that would turn the
outcome their way.
The
first period started well for the
Biohazards, as hired gun Brian Sena
powered his way through some checks and
scored an unassisted goal for his first
tally of the night. Chris Kendall
answered back for the Sauce a few seconds
after a power play had expired, with an
unassisted goal of his own. Randal Chen
gave the Sauce their first lead of the
night late in the period.
The
second period carried the tone of the
first, though the results were more in
the Biohazards' favor. Brian Sena struck
again to even the score, and Pat Escaron
took the lead back for the Biohazards.
But less than 20 seconds later, Rob
Haitani put a shot top shelf to knot the
score at 3 a side.
In
the third period, Mark Bayer opened the
scoring for the Sauce by charging the net,
but Pat Escaron brought the Biohazards
even again less than a minute later. A.J.
Fink claimed the lead for the Sauce by
dodging a few checks and slipping the
puck in low. The Biohazards were forced
to pull their goaltender to even the
score late in the period, but the
officials called them for too many men on
the overly eager change. The gambit didn't
backfire, but it didn't work either, and
the Sauce held on for the win in
regulation.
This
game evened the season series between the
two teams; each went 2-1-1 against the
other. A.J. Fink had two assists in
addition to his game-winning goal. Brian
Sena and Pat Escaron each had two goals.
