The
second meeting this season between the
Cavemen and the Beavers featured a
retooled Beaver lineup and a couple of
substitutions. It was the Doug Gould
debut, who skated along with substitutes
Mathew Baird, Neil Parkin, and Kane Ng
that really brought out the Beaver fans.
On the other side of the rink the Cavemen
skated with seven players and no subs.
They were overheard before the game
discussing a possible team name change.
The most popular name among that group
was the name Lipstick Latex and Leather,
it was voted in favor 7-0 by the players.
Without
going into too much detail it is suffice
to say that the player of the game for
the Beavers was Doug Gould, who ended the
game with 2 goals and 2 assists. Over on
the other side, the LLL’s MVP was
Sean Connolly who looks surprisingly like
Ken Shamrock with his helmet off. He
finished the game with 3 goals and 1
assist.
The
game was as fast and as fun as I had
imagined the Four on Four League would be
this season. At the end of regulation the
score was tied 5-5, overtime solved
nothing, and so it was decided in the
shoot out. A couple of freakishly lucky
bounces for the LLL and out of this world,
spectacularly great, oh my god I
can’t believe he did that,
goaltending by Eric Penzel gave the LLL
the win.
