Lamp
Lighters put Cavemen on Ice
By Joe
Balan
      In
what some were calling the game of the
year, the Lamp Lighters were able to
squeeze by the Cavemen with a Daniel
"my brother" Hasselson goal
with 9.8 seconds left in the game.
      The
Lamp Lighters got on the board first with
a first period goal by Hasselson assisted
by Joe "Sin Bin" Balan, who
added 6 minutes to his league leading
penalty total. Brent "Leeroy"
Jenkins also added an assist on the first
goal.. Adding to the LL's lead was a nice
goal by Andy "I've got one" Han
"in my pocket in the other is giving
out high fives" assisted beautifully
by Robert "De"Spiro. (By the
way, loved you in Taxi Driver.)
      The
2-0 lead would not last very long. Goals
by Sean "John" Connolly and
Kenny "touch of" Gray tied it
up at 2. It would then be the Cavemen
that struck next. Kenny "G" was
skating up the ice when he was taken down
by Joe Balan and was awarded a penalty
shot. KG capitalized on the chance and
brought his team up 3-2.
      Danny
"Boy" Hasselson would tie it up
with a spectacular effort a few minutes
later. With 10 seconds left in the 2nd
period, Andy Han "solo" was
able to win the draw in the Cavemen zone
and Joe Balan slapped it in to take a 4-3
lead.
      The
third period saw much of the same back
and forth action with Andy Han scoring
assisted by Hasselson. The Cavemen would
get the next two to tie things at 5-5
with goals by Gray and Jon "I
cant think of any nickname for him"
Usich.
      With
1:11 left in the third, the cavemen would
be called for a tripping penalty. The
Lamp Lighters called a time out, and Jim
Loucks "ness monster" came up
with a game plan to Put Hasselson on the
ice in his place to "stack" the
power play. It paid off. With 9.8 seconds
left, Brent Jenkins made a great drop
pass to Daniel who, "popped the
water bottle" for his third goal of
the night.
      Eric
Penzel "and Teller" and Craig
Nash"ed his teeth and bit the recess
ladies breast... how could I forget"
played great in the pipes.
      After
the game, Captain balan said" It was
a great game, I have all the respect in
the world for what the Cavemen's front
office has done with this organization
over the last two year. They have one of
the most respected and feared GM's in
hockey history."
      Also
of note, The Lamplighters remained
undefeated at the Bar with a 7-3 victory
over the Cavemen.
