Meercats
Surprise Stingers 5-1
By Dave Verderosa
      The
Meercats, whose penchant for giving up
late goals has caused them to slip to the
bottom of the league standings, put
together a full game for their first win
since game 1 of the season. The Meercats
jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two
periods on the strength of two tallies by
Jared Ginsburg and one by Dave Verderosa.
      Stingers
Mark Allen's goal at the start of the 3rd
period was answered quickly by the
Meercats Vince Ticoulet's outstanding
individual effort. Ticoulet knocked in
his own rebound after his breakaway
attempt was thwarted by goaltender Joe
Prestipino. Stinger captain, Neil Parkin,
speaking after the game said, "We
just never got it going tonight."
      The
Meercats, plagued by late game collapses,
moved Lilly Radoshevich back to defense
to provide both a tighter backline and
strengthen the offensive rush. Dave
Verderosa, Jared Ginsburg combined for 7
points, and fill-in goaltender, Craig
Nash, was outstanding, especially during
the penalty kills.
