Stingers
Swarm Meercats 7-1

Utilizing
their size, speed and skill, the Stingers
convincingly defeated the visiting
Meercats 7-1 in last night's 8 pm game.
Francis Albert and Mark Allen both netted
two goals apiece for the victors while
Roman Gendler was credited with the lone
Meercats tally.
With
just a minute ticked away on the clock in
the first period, Francis put the
Stingers quickly in the lead. Mark Allen
garnered his first tally of the night
midway through the period followed by
Dave Cunningham, who popped a shot past
netminder Kane Ng later in the first.
The
Meercats were able to hold the Stingers
at bay until Neil Parkin found the back
of the net at 13:30 of the second period.
Roman Gendler scored his 3rd goal of the
season just minutes later, giving the
Meercats a brief glimpse of hope. Dave
Cunningham then contributed helpers to
Stinger goals by Keith Taylor and Mark
Allen, bringing the score up to 6-1.
In
the third period, the Meercats did their
best to shake the Stingers hive, but
couldn't solve goalie Mark Fassett or the
solid Stinger defense. Francis Albert
finished up the night's scoring at 12:10
of the period, taking advantage of a
loose puck behind the Meercats net.
The
Stingers move to the top of the standings
with this victory and remain undefeated
in regulation play. The defending champ
Meercats remain in last place.
