Cavemen
Club Cats 4-2

Bolstered
by 3 highly skilled subs, UCHP tickled
the twine 3 times in the third period to
defeat the Meercats 4-2 last night at
Belmont Iceland. The Meercats dressed
only 7 skaters for the contest while
injured UCHP captain Matt Baird watched
from the press box.
Roman
Gendler opened the scoring midway thru
the first stanza for the Cats, finishing
off a series of passes form Dave
Verderosa and Lilliana Radosevich. This
combo would score again in the second
period, this time with Dave finding the
back of the net after some sharp passing
from Lilly and Roman.
The
2-0 lead wouldn't last for long as Sean
Connolly put the C-men on the board less
than a minute later. Meercat net minder,
Kane Ng turned away shot after shot as
his team grew tired in the 3rd period.
UCHP's sharp skating and crisp passing
kept their opponents trapped in the
defensive zone until Joydeep Nath scored,
taking advantage of a goal mouth scramble.
A
blistering shot from a sharp angle gave
Sean Connolly his second tally of the
night and the C-men their first lead of
the game. By this point the Cats had
grown tired from long exhausting shifts,
many which consisted of fighting off the
offensive attacks from UCHP. Late in the
game with the Meercats on a power play,
John Usich intercepted a pass on the half
boards in his own end and skated the
length of the ice, ripping a shot pass
Kane to ensure a UCHP victory.
The
Meercats fall to a 1-3 with this loss
while UCHP improve their record to 2-2.
Next week the C-men face the Gerihatricks
while the Cats meet the Stingers.
