But...Daddy...this is Christmas

Daddy, this is Chistmas - yeah it's been another year
I've tried to tame this anger - I've tried to face this fear
But Daddy I'm not strong enough to forgive this like I should
I've used up all my energy - done everything I could
But Daddy this is Christmas, so today won't be in vain
I'll celebrate the life and love I have despite the pain.
But why'd ya have to leave me here, alone beside the tree
Nobody else to run to - just momma and me
But Daddy this is Christmas, so today I won't complain
Momma's cryin' anyway - it's coming down like rain
And I ask Jesus everyday - why we should be alone
I suppose that he won't tell me though - cuz God ain't got a phone
And I may never ever hear the words "I love You" from my Dad
But I should trust that God will find a way to make me glad
Cuz Daddy this is Christmas even if you don't come back
and even if Santa doesn't stop by here with his toy filled sack
But Daddy this is Christmas - and I haven't been that bad
God may have needed and angel Papa - but I need my Dad!
