Today I crave a bit of spring
To warm my weary soul
For snow has fallen 8 days straight
The city grey and cold

The children bundle up in suits
The flakes pile high outside
And naked trees bend with chilled breeze
Soft sunshine is denied.

Oh how this season lingers on
Much longer than it should
A day or two of light and heat
Would do us all some good
And there before me stands the man
To whom my heart belongs
The one who colors everything
With laughter love and songs

An outstretched hand and smirking face
Extends springtime I remember
A bouquet bright, with peach and white
Roses in December.
