Elastic Promises
I've learned the hard way not to lie
For lies consume your mind
You must become and orchestrate
The madness - till you're blind
A promise is elastic
You can pull it very far
A lie; a promise, side by side
Becoming who you are.
Stretch the truth out all you can
To cover up the past
But even flexibility,
Will break itself at last.
Avoid elastic promises,
Stop lies before they start
For when you think they're out of sight
They snap and break your heart.
