I wonder God
If there are really deadly sins, then are there only seven?
If it turns out there's 29 will I still go to heaven?
Or what if there is only one, and we misunderstood?
Do you have a special scale up there, considering our good?
I used to think about the stars, and rainbows, and the thunder
But after I turned ten or so, it wasn't cool to wonder
And science shows us why they're real, and proves that they exist
But what about your wonderousness? Could scientists have missed?
I wonder God why people often miss your special clues
And why we all expect free rides, and skip out on our dues
I wonder if I've read enough, or analyzed too much
I wonder if we have abused your voice and gentle touch
I wonder if there's any room for my interpretation
And if that's how you hoped we'd understand your celebration
Noone wants to answer me, for many live in fear
That if they do not understand, their will may disappear.
I wonder God, if you would mind, helping me spread your word
In stories, essays, poetry, in ways they haven't heard
So many folks out there like me, must wonder on and on
The kind that keeps them up at night, and weary at the dawn
They think that faith is always blind when we can't see your face
They blind themselves by fearing seeing you in every place
I see you in the mountains God, and in the evening sky
I hear your voice in laughter Lord, and in each lullabye
I wonder God, if people think it's better to be blind
If they can't see, than you can't see - and it may ease a mind
If only God, they knew how great it is to see your face
I wonder God, if we could help them find Amazing Grace
