I'm Max.
Well I'm back in Oldham
having been away
and lived in, among a whole host of other places, Sheffield, for 6 yrs. Most recently retunrning from Southbourne, a lovely village on the Sussex/Hampshire border. Things
are way more expensive down there, and I don't just mean house prices. I was in a very fullfilling relationship, but that has collapsed now. I'm probably better off on my own anyway! (Quick, break out the violins).

At one time I was an avid climber, almost a daily visitor to my local
climbing wall (Oldham Sports Centre). My friends and I have also climbed
in some beautiful locations in Wales, France, and right here in good old
Blighty. Nowadays, I have neither the time, the money, nor the people to
go any more.
For those interested, your local climbing wall, or Outdoor
Pursuits Centre can help you, or visit Paul Braithwaites for a glimpse of the kind
of equipment you might need.

Spare Time??
I read a hell of a lot these days. My current set is "Artifacts of
Power" by Maggie Furey, but I must mention Terry Goodkind's "Sword of
Truth" Saga. Now on the eighth book, it is possibly the best series I
have ever read. Magic, Heroism, Dragons, and the age old battle between
Good and Evil, all the ingredients for a fabulous fantasy story. And
the characters!! It's just so well written that I found myself fearing
for their strifes, and cheering for their joys.

One of the ways I find a good method of release, from stress and turmoil
in my life is my poetry. I tend to write infrequently, only really when
emotionally distraught, so my poetry tends towards the Dark, or the sappy
Love poem. I do also enjoy reading poetry, and have included some of my favourites for your enjoyment.

My favourite waste of time!
One of my favourite ways to waste time, and let go of the weeks stress
is to romp around a Dungeon or two, slashing and blasting my way to a
great treasure. A must for any Fantasy fan, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons
(a paper based Role Playing Game) gives you the opportunity to be a
Mighty Warrior, a Powerful Mage, or even a Wily Thief as you solve puzzles,
fight monsters, and evade traps (or not! Ouch!) to complete your quest.
Controlled by the Dungeon Master, this is true escapism for those of you
trapped in the humdrum existence of these concrete jungles.
For more on AD&D vist
, who also produce a great little card game, called
Magic: The Gathering. One AD&D fans will love.

And so to Bedlam. This is, in my humle opinion, the greatest Sci-Fi show
ever! For those who havn't seen it yet, I say "Why Not?", no really. The
premiss is simple, the series contiues from the Kurt Russel/James Spader
film of the same name. Col. Jack O'niell leads SG1, a secret militery unit
through a stable wormhole generator, the "stargate", in a battle with a
technologically superior parasitc race known as the G'oauld. Assisted by
Mjr. Samantha Carter, a physicist and soldier, Teal'c, a renegade Jaffa
(servants of the G'oauld) and Dr. Daniel Jackson, the archeologist and
linguist who decifered the Stargate's symbols in the first place.
Action, Adventure, and some great comedic moments combine to make this
show stand above all it's contemporaries. Go See!!

Last but not least, I must mention my faith. WAIT! Don't Go! I'm no
Jesus freak, nor am I going to ram religion down your throat. I believe
we should each find our own Path in life, and mine has led me all over
the place.
My faith is a mish-mash of Druidic, Wiccan, and Shamanic traditions
with a bit of pure Sorcery thrown in for good measure. You see, I believe
that structured religion is distracting us from the true source of all
our power, the universe. As we are part of Gaia, the Earth Mother, so she
is part of the greater Universal Consciousness, there to help, guide and protect us,
if we are to only ask.
The Tarot, and Runestones are always a source I turn to in times of need,
for guidence in both physical and spiritual matters. Specifically I use
The Shapeshifter Tarot, being based around the Welsh, and Irish Celtic
traditions, I find it the most harmonious with my path.
