Smoke at the Sauna End.
Finnish Sauna.

This a nearly picturesque view welcomed the editor of these pages one evening, in the beginning of August when he visited The Bedsitterman's summer home somewhere in Finland last summer.

The sauna was warming and at the end of the sauna there was running a most technical device which - in the editor's opinion - deserves a closer examining .

The device is the Bedsitterman's campfire machine, originating from the year 1997 (a bigger picture) . Only recycled parts and materials have been used in this invention.

Campfire cooking machine. The power control is made from a Saab 96 jack.

The coal grate is a second-hand frying pan and wind shield / frame was earlier a 15" car rim.

In the close-up view a starting campfire machine is seen. The grate has been filled with hardwood coal this time, although The Bedsitter Man preferably uses self-made pinewood coal, even though they are not as good for cooking purposes.

Glowing embers. That is because The Bedsitter Man also cooks tar every summer, and coals are made as by-product of this .

The tar-cooking process will be discussed later on these pages.

In the last picture of the picture series the campfire machine is ready to use. Steel frying pan (a close-up ) has been put over the grill net, so as to strengthen air circulation and to improve heat power.

Frying pan.Notice the cutting at the left edge (a close-up)of the frame.

It enables using a LPG burner as the power source of the machine, in which case the device can be used also indoors. .
