Before anyone writes me any nasty letters telling me that Jarod wouldn't commit suicide, let me take a moment to agree. However, he had to for the purposes of this particular story---I did my best to make it halfway believable.
I rarely step up on a soapbox when I write, but this story is one occasion when I did. I read several stories that seemed to glorify suicide, and since I have personal experience with the devastation suicide leaves behind, I felt driven to write a story de-glorifying it. This story stands alone and always will, since its purpose was simply to express some of my pain, and to hopefully deter anyone who reads it who actually has any misconceptions that suicide solves problems. All it does it take the pain of the person who commits suicide, magnify it, and spread it around further.
End of soapbox lecture---read on if you haven't been discouraged.
