My Bestest Friend

(This is my very first fanfic, and I just want to dedicate it to Tina, Kristen, and Lily for being great inspirations and great friends. You people are the best. Anyway, my fanfic is about Ross and Rachel.
The others are in there too, but not that much, but anyway they are in college. It might not seem that way, but it is. So, read on.) P.S. sorry about the spelling.





(Ross and Rachel’s Apartment)
(Ross enters it is about 10p.m. He sees a head sticking up from the couch and walks to it.)

ROSS: Rach...Rachel...(He goes around to the front to find out it she is asleep) oh...(he picks her up and takes her to her bedroom and tucks her in and kisses her on the cheek) goodnight beautiful.
(He leaves to his room to go to bed)
...

(Next Morning: In the kitchen)

(Rachel’s is up making coffee, which she cannot make very good. Ross enters)

ROSS: Good morning (Kisses her cheek)
RACH: (smiles) Morning.
ROSS: What are you doing up so early? (She shoots him a look) I mean when I try to wake you up early you nearly kill me. (She hits him.)
RACH: Oh shut up. No it is just that I need to be up. I need to go to the library and study.
ROSS: Oh yeah midterms are coming up aren’t they.
RACH: Yes on Thursday ugh!
ROSS: Yeah well I have already studied a lot so I am gonna have some fun.
(She sticks her tongue out at him while pouring their coffee. They both drink it and get disgusted looks on their faces and spit it out)
RACH: Maybe we should get coffee elsewhere.
ROSS: Oh yeah.
(They both leave)


(Monica’)
(Rachel and Monica are present sitting on the couch talking)
RACH: Well he was very cute.
MON: So you thought that was a good enough reason to sleep with him.
RACH: Well you did not see him so you do not know.
MON: Yeah whatever. (She rolls her eyes)
RACH: What time is it?
MON: 11:40 why?
RACH: Nothing. I’m just meeting Ross for lunch at twelve and I don’t want to be late.
MON: oh (giggles)
RACH: What was that?
MON: Nothing. Now go to lunch. Bye. Get out.
RACH: fine. (She leaves)


(A restaurant)
(Ross is there waiting.) Rachel enters in a rush)
RACH: Sorry I am so late. (Kisses his cheek)
ROSS: It’s ok.
RACH: It’s just that Monica and I were talking and one thing led to another
(Trailing off)
ROSS: Rach it’s ok.
RACH: Sorry.
ROSS: Uh I already ordered for you. Sprite and a chicken salad right.
RACH: Yeah that’s great. You know me too well. (Getting his hand)
ROSS: I know (they stare at each other)
WAITER: Here’s your food. (They are startled and let go of each other’s hands take their food.)
(Time Laps)
(They are done eating and are waiting for the waiter)
WAITER: Here is your check.
(Ross and Rachel both reach for it)
ROSS: I’ll pay.
RACH: (softly) Ross.
ROSS: I insist.
RACH: You are so sweet.
ROSS: I know. (He smiles at her and she smiles back) Well I have to go duty calls see you at home later.
(They both get up. He kisses her cheek and they leave.)


(The library)
(Rachel is studying. Well actually she is reading a magazine, but covering her book with it when this guy comes up to her)
GUY: So do you always study this way?
RACH: Huh? (She looks at the magazine) oh no I just could not concentrate.
(He laughs)
GUY: Philip.
RACH: Rachel (they shake hands)
PHIL: Nice to meet you. So you’re studying for midterms.
RACH: Yeah.
PHIL: It’s hard.
RACH: Tell me about it.
PHIL: I don’t think I am going to study. I say you either knows it or you don’t.
RACH: Good luck (she laughs)
PHIL: (he laughs) it’s fun.
RACH: It might be fun but I have to concentrate.
PHIL: Why don’t you take a break and let us go get some coffee.
RACH: Sure (they leave)


(A coffee house on campus)
(Everyone’s there except Rachel)
CHAN: So I think he cheated so he deserves what he gets.
MON: Yeah but he was under a lot of pressure.
ROSS: So he should worry more about his schoolwork and less about the game.
JOEY: (laughs) I still cannot believe he was caught. Everyone knows if you cheat you sit in the front cause all the teachers are in the back.
PHOE: Joey!
JOEY: What?
(Rachel and Phil enter)
RACH: Hey everyone this is Philip.
ALL: Hey Philip/hi/sup/hello there.
RACH: What are you guys talking about?
PHOE: How Ryan Chase was caught cheating.
RACH: Oh
(Ross just stares at Philip. Monica and Chandler notice)
MON: Ross...Ross...earth to Ross.
ROSS: What? What?
CHAN: You are staring pretty hard at Phil don’t you think.
ROSS: No I was not.
MON: Yes you were.
ROSS: Whatever. (Goes to get more coffee)
CHAN: So Phil?
PHIL: Yes
CHAN: What are you studying?
PHIL: Flying, being a pilot.
JOEY: Oh a flyer heh. They do not make a lot of money.
RACH: Joey!
JOEY: Sorry/
PHOE: So where are you from?
PHIL: Washington state.
JOEY: Washington heh.
(Everyone looks at him weirdly)
PHIL: Yeah came here last year on a scholarship.
ALL: oh
(Ross comes back)
RACH: Ross.
ROSS: Yes?
RACH: Did you get the groceries?
ROSS: Yeah.
(Philip looks at Rachel)
RACH: We live together. (Goes over to Ross sits on his lap and hugs him)
Yep he’s my bestest friend. (She kisses his forehead. He smiles weakly)
MON/PHOE: Awww.
(Chandler and Joey start making kisses faces that makes Philip uncomfortable)
ROSS: (He starts getting up softly pushing Rachel off him) Yeah uh.. I uh.. I have to go.
(Rachel sits in his armchair pulling his arm)
RACH: Why?
ROSS: (Making her let go kinda harshly) Cause I am sleepy! (Loud but not to loud)
(The others look a bit suprised by Ross’ outburst including Rachel)
RACH: (Hurt & worried) Sorry.
ROSS: bye (leaves)
PHIL: What is with him?
MON: No clue.
JOEY: (Shrugs)
PHOE: Don’t know.
CHAN: nada.
RACH: (staring after him worried) I do not know.


(Ross and Rachel’s apt.)
(Ross is just in bed thinking.) Rachel comes in. She gets in his bed knowing he is not asleep.)
RACH: Ross what’s wrong?
ROSS: Nothing.
RACH: Don’t tell me nothing. I know you Ross Geller. I could tell the way you were acting today. (She hugs him around the waist sort of cuddling next to him)
ROSS: It is nothing Rach believe me I am tired. Sorry if I was rude.
RACH: (Rubs his tummy) It’s ok teddy bear. (She giggles)
(Ross rolls over on top of her and starts tickling her. She laughs and cries so Ross stops)
RACH: (Trying to catch her breath) ok...ok.
(He just laughs and brings her close to him in a cuddle hug)
ROSS: Night Rach.
RACH: goodnight (yawns) Rossy.

(Morning Chandler & Joey’s
(Ross is there with Chandler and Monica)
CHAN: So is Rach serious about this Phil guy?
(Ross looks down)
MON: I don’t know has she slept with him yet?
ROSS: Nope.
MON: Oh then this is strange for me. She usually has already slept with the guy.
CHAN: I know. (Laughs)
ROSS: (offended) Hey! She is not like that.
CHAN: Oh I am sorry I forgot you are her bestest friend (makes kissy noises at him)
ROSS: shut up.
CHAN: Man I don’t get you. If you like her, ask her out. She is like in love with you. Remember you are her bestest friend.
MON: Wait a minute. (Laughs) You like Rachel.
CHAN: Since 9th grade.
MON: Really?
ROSS: (sad) Yes.
MON: awwww how sweet.
ROSS: Do not tell her Mon.
MON: (smiles) OK
ROSS: I am serious.
MON: Ok I promise.

(A restaurant)
(Rachel and Philip are there)
PHIL: So your friends are cool. I like Joey especially.
RACH: Yeah. They are great.
PHIL: You live with Ross right.
RACH: uh huh (nods) Is that a problem?
PHIL: oh no. Uh is he coming for lunch?
RACH: Yeah. We always meet for lunch.
(Ross enters and goes to Phil and Rachel. She gets up and hugs him.)
ROSS: Oh uh I did not know you two were having lunch together. Maybe I should go.
RACH: What! Why!?
ROSS: I do not want to impose. I was not staying long anyway. So I will see you later bye.
RACH: (confused) bye.
(He leaves)

(2 weeks later)
(Western Philosophy class)
(Monica, Rachel, and Joey are in class. Joey is hitting on a girl in front of him and Rachel’s passing Monica a note.)
RACH: (the note)
Mon. What is up with your brother? He is acting strange and he is avoiding me.
Do you know why?

MON: (the note)
I think he doesn’t like Philip.

RACH( the note)
Why not?

MON: (the note)
No clue. Talk to him.

(The coffeehouse)
(Ross is there by himself. Rachel enters kinda upset)
RACH: Ross?
ROSS: (looks up at her) what?
RACH: (mad) How come you do not like Philip?!
ROSS: (getting mad) who told you that?
RACH: (angry) No one it all added up. You did not start acting like this until he came into the picture. (Calming down) What is wrong Ross?
ROSS: (annoyed) nothing Rachel. Do I have to like every guy you date?
RACH: No, but it would not hurt to be nice. Ok I like him. This is going somewhere.
ROSS: You know what I don’t want to talk about this I have to go.
(Rachel takes a deep breath and watches him leave)



(Monica)
(Phil, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, and Monica are there. Monica and Rachel are talking quietly at the table the rest are watching TV.)
RACH: Oh Mon I feel so bad. We yelled at each other. We never yell at each other.
MON: Oh come on it was not that bad.
RACH: Yes it was.
MON: So go apologize.
RACH: No. He needs to stop being a jerk.
MON: You cannot make him like all of your friends or boyfriends.
RACH: I know but...(pauses) urgh fine.
(Philip goes up to Rachel and puts his arms around her)
PHIL: Are you ready?
RACH: Yes.
MON: Ok. Bye sweetie.


(Philip’s dorm)
(Him and Rachel are on the couch talking)
PHIL: So how did you get an apartment on campus. I heard they are expensive and hard to get. So all I got was a dorm room.
RACH: My dads inside connection.
(They laugh. They lean in to kiss. Phil moves his hand to her leg, but she pushes him away)
RACH: Honey no.
PHIL: What? What’s wrong?
RACH: Nothing. Nothing. I just can’t do that right now. I am not in a good mood.
PHIL: You have not been in a good mood awhile.
RACH: Sorry, but I have to go. See ya. (Kisses him.) Then leaves)

(Ross and Rachel’s apt.)
(Ross is studying on the table. Rachel enters. They stare at each other until Ross looks down at his book. She walks into the kitchen and gets water. She comes back and looks at Ross for a minute then goes to her room and slams the door.)

(Chandler and Joey’s)
(Ross, Chandler, and Joey are talking)
CHAN: So you’re ignoring her?
ROSS: No I am just giving her space.
JOEY: By avoiding her. I thought you were in love with her.
ROSS: I am.
CHAN: Then stop being a jerk.
ROSS: I cannot. She is always with him and he is always around and touching her.
JOEY: Just apologize man.
ROSS: I’ll try.


(Ross and Rachel’s)
(Rachel’s there watching TV. Ross enters with flowers and a huge black teddy bear with a red bow.
She turns around and sees him then turns back around toward the TV. He looks down, then looks up and goes to sit by her.)
ROSS: (softly) Rach.
RACH: What?
ROSS: This is for you. I just wanted to say I am sorry for being a jerk. I was just giving you your space.
(She takes the stuff smiles and hugs Ross, then breaks it and holds his face in her hands)
RACH: (teary eyed) Did I ask you to give me space. I would never want space from you. You are my cuddle bear. (Pauses) but thanks.
(They hug and he picks her up and spins her around she is laughing)
RACH: Ross stop. I am going to throw up.
(He stops and puts her down she falls and he falls with her. They gaze at each other; she leans in and kisses his lips softly. Then they look at each other and lean into a deep passionate kiss. They break after a few minutes)
ROSS: (shocked) Whoa.
RACH: (dazed) uh huh.
ROSS: hmmm....
RACH: Maybe I should....
ROSS: (kisses her again)
RACH: (breaking) Yeah. (They kiss again this time he picks her up kissing her while taking her to his bedroom)

(Next morning at Monica’s)
(Rachel and Monica are there)
RACH: (quietly nervous) We.. uh.. Slept together.
MON: (loud) What?! How?!
RACH: shhh. Well we were playing, then we well you know one thing led to another and he gave me this look and it was like wow! Oh Mon it was amazing.
MON: (very happy) Wow!
RACH: I cannot believe we ruined our friendship, it is going to be so weird now.
MON: You aren’t going to do anything about it?
RACH: Besides pretending it did not happen. What else would we do about it?
MON: Oh my god. You are so dumb and unaware.
RACH: What?
MON: Nothing.

(At the coffeehouse)
(Their all there except Rachel)
JOEY: I still cannot believe Nicks lost by two points it was such a close game.
ROSS: Yeah.
CHAN: Anyway Ross I heard what happened congratulations.
ROSS: Thanks man.
PHOE: yay!
(Rachel enters with Philip)
MON: (to Ross) So are you going to do it again (sees Ross’ look) Joey?
JOEY: huh?
(Monica makes a face at Joey)
JOEY: What Mon?
MON: ugh nevermind.
(Rachel comes with coffee and sits on Philips lap. Ross looks down and Rachel sees him.
RACH: Hey guys.
(Everyone except Ross): hey/ hi/hello/ sup?
Ross gets up and leaves. Everyone is confused and looks at Rachel and she goes after him)

(Ross and Rachel’s)
(Ross comes and slams the door. Rachel opens it and comes in)
RACH: Ross. What was that?
ROSS: Did last night mean anything to you?
RACH: What? (Confused)
ROSS: Oh wait it probably didn’t. I forgot you like to sleep with people for fun.
RACH: (very hurt) How could you even say that to me.
ROSS: (not caring) I just did.
RACH: (angry) Why are you acting like a jerk?
ROSS: I am not acting a jerk.
RACH: Yes you are.
ROSS: (giving in) I am sorry ok. It is just ever since we were little we have been close friends. But like in the 9th grade, I started having different feelings for you, but you did not share my same feelings. So I kept my mouth shut and my feeling kept growing. (She gets teary eyed and starts to cry) But you have never thought of me as anything more than a friend so I never said anything until now...and.. And last night I thought it was great I thought you saw me as more than a friend, as more than your bestest friend but....
RACH: (softly crying) What?
ROSS: I am sorry I should not ha....
RACH: (still crying) shut up.
(She grabs his face and kisses him passionately he kisses her back not wanting to let go.. They break not looking at each other embarrassed)
ROSS: (excited, but confused) Wow, uh ok. (Not sure of what to do)
RACH: (happy, yet confused) yeah.
ROSS: So uh (gets her hands) what do you say. Can we get together? (Looks down kinda shy)
RACH: I think (pauses) I think that might be work. (He looks up at her with a big grin and kisses her almost knocking her down. They break, laugh, and kiss again)


(Coffeehouse)
(Ross and Rachel walk in hand in hand but let go when they see their friends. Rachel goes over to Philip)
RACH: Uh Phil can I talk to you in private?
PHIL: Sure Rach.
(They get up and go outside, and Ross sits down with coffee)
MON: What’s going on?
ROSS: You will see (smiles)
(We see a shot of Philip looking angry then looking hurt Rachel hugs him and he leaves. She comes back in, sits on Ross’ lap, and kisses him. The rest of the gang looks suprised)
MON: What?
CHAN: Are you two?
JOEY: Together.
R&R: Yes!!
ALL: awwwwwwww
(They all get up and hug and kiss them, and Ross hugs Rachel)
RACH: Yep he’s my bestest friend (pauses) now boyfriend.
