This is the companion to a previous compilation, The Beatles 1962-1966, and this compilation continues the musical adventures of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Although the lyrics are in a little booklet, I put them up anyway because I know how easily one can lose things. Enjoy!

"Strawberry Fields Forever" (Lennon/McCartney)--No, John did not bury Paul; he just craved some "cranberry sauce."

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever.

Living is easy with eyes closed.
Misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out
It doesn't matter much to me.

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever.

No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low.
That is you can't tune in
But it's all right. That is I think it's not too bad.

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever.

Always, no, sometimes, think it's me.
But you know I know when it's a dream.
I think, er, no, I mean, er, yes, but it's all wrong
That is I think I disagree.

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever.

To the top, Johnny!

"Penny Lane" (Lennon/McCartney)--Originally, there was a trumpet solo at the end of this song, but it was cut out. When Capitol released the Rarities album they put the solo back on, but it's not right--aye the original was in mono and the album is in stereo.

Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs
Of every head he's had the pleasure to know.
And all the people that come and go stop and say hello.

On the corner is a banker with a motor car. The little
Children laugh at him behind his back.
And the banker never wears a "Mac" in the pouring rain,
Very strange.

Penny Lane is in my ears and inn my eyes.
There beneath the blue suburban skies.
I sit and meanwhile back.

In Penny Lane there is a fireman with an hour glass.
And in his pocket is a portrait of the Queen.
He likes to keep his fire engine clean, it's a clean machine.

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
Full of fish and finger pies in summer. Meanwhile back

Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout
The pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray
And though she feels as if she's in a play
She is anyway

Penny Lane the barber shaves another customer
We see the banker sitting waiting for a trim.
And then the fireman rushes in from the pouring rain
Very strange.

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
There beneath the blue suburban skies

I sit and meanwhile back.

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies
Penny Lane

To the top, Johnny!

"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (Lennon/McCartney)--Paul, George, and Ringo played this song together at the wedding reception of Eric and Patti Boyd Harrison Clapton. (Geeze Louise, what a long name!)

It was 20 years ago today,
Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play
They've been going in and out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile
So may I introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

We're Segeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
We hope you will enjoy the show
We're Segeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sit back and let the evening go
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

It's wonderful to be here
It's certainly a thrill
You're such a lovely audience
We'd like to take you home with us
We'd love to take you home

I don't really want to stop the show
But I thought you might like to know
That the singer's gonna sing a song
And he wants you all to sing along
So let me introduce to you
The one and only Bill Shears
And Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

To the top, Johnny!

"With a Littler Help From My Friends" (Lennon/McCartney)--Richie Havens introduced this song like this: "I'd like to sing my favorite song in the whole universe."

What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key. Oh

I get by with a little help from my friends, mm...
I get high with a little help from my friends, mm...
Going to try with a little help from my friends.

What do I do when my love is away.
(Does it worry you to be alone.)
How do I feel by the end of the day.
(Are you sad because you're on your own.)
No, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mm get high with a little help from my friends
Mm gonna try with a little help from my friends

Do you need anybody
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody
I just want somebody to love.

Would you believe in a love at first sight,
Yes, I'm certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light,
I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm get high with a little help from my friends
Oo I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends

Do you need anybody
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody
I just want somebody to love.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mm I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends
Oh I get high with a little help from my friends
Yes, I get by with a little help from my friends
With a little help from my friends

To the top, Johnny!

"Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" (Lennon/McCartney)--Inspired by a drawing done by Julian Lennon, not an acid trip.

Picture yourself in a boat on a river wtih tangerine trees
And marmalade skies.
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, a girl with
Kaleidoscope eyes.

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green, towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes and she's gone.

Lucy in the sky with diamonds. Ah. Ah.

Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain where rocking horse
People eat marshmallow pies. Ev'ry one smiles as you drift
Past the flowers that grow so incredibly hight.

Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in teh back with you head in the clouds,
And you're gone.

Lucy in the sky with diamonds. Ah. Ah.

Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
The girl with kaleidoscope eyes
Lucy in the sky with diamonds. Ah. Ah.

To the top, Johnny!

"A Day in the Life" (Lennon/McCartney)--Did everyone catch Kiffus (Keith Richards) on the promo of this song? Hmm? Hmm?

I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph.

He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords.

I saw a film today oh boy
The English army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But I just had to look
Having read the book

I'd love to turn you on

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes
It takes to fill the Albert Hall

I'd love to turn you on

To the top, Johnny!

"All You Need Is Love" (Lennon/McCartney)--Aw listen to this! See what Keiff (KEITH RICHARDS, THE ROLLING STONES): "Try livin' off of it."

Love, love, love, love, love, love,
love, love, love

There's nothing you can do that can't be done
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung
Nothing you can say but you learn how to play the game.
It's easy
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love

Love That is all you need
Love, love, love, love, love, love,
love, love, love
There's nothing you can make that can't be made
No-one you can save that can't be saved
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time
It's easy
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love

Love That is all you need
There's nothing you can know that isn't known
Nothing you can see that isn't shown
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you meant to be
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love

Love That is all you need
All you need is love - All together now
All you need us love - everybody
All you need is love

Love That is all you need
That is all you need ( That is all you need )...

To the top, Johnny!

"I Am the Walrus" (Lennon/McCartney)--Very strange...

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly.
I'm crying.

Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come.
Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday,
Man, you been a naughty boy,
You let your face grow long.

I am the eggman, they are the eggmen,
I am the walrus, goo goo ga joob.

Mister city policeman sitting pretty, little policemen in a row.
See how they fly like Lucy in the sky, see how they run.
I'm crying, I'm crying, I'm crying, I'm crying.

Yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Crabalocker fishwife pornographic priestess,
Boy you been a naughty girl,
You let your knickers down.

I am the eggman, they are the eggmen,
I am the walrus, goo goo ga joob.

Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun,
If the sun don't come,
You get your tan from standing in the English rain.

I am the eggman, they are the eggmen,
I am the walrus, goo goo ga joob.

Expert texpert choking smokers,
Don't you think the joker laughs at you?
(Ho ho ho hee hee hee ha ha ha)
See how they smile, like pigs in a sty,
See how they snied.
I'm crying.

Semolina pilchard climbing up the Eiffel Tower.
Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna,
Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allen Poe.

I am the eggman, they are the eggmen,
I am the walrus, goo goo ga joob ga goo goo ga joob
goo goo ga joob ga goo goo ga joob ga goo
joob joob joob joob joob joob joob
joob joob joob joob joob

To the top,Johnny!

"Hello, Goodbye" (Lennon/McCartney)--John always felt insulted that this was the A-side to "I Am the Walrus."

You say yes, I say no,
You say stop, and I say go go go.
Oh no,
You say goodbye, and I say hello.
Hello, hello.
I don't know why you say goodbye,
I say hello, hello, hello.
I don't know why you say goodbye,
I say hello.

I say high, you say low.
You say why and I say I don't know,
Oh no,
You say goodbye, and I say hello.
Hello, hello.
I don't know why you say goodbye,
I say hello.

Why, why, why, why, why, why do you say
Good bye, goodbye bye bye bye bye,
Oh no,
You say goodbye, and I say hello.
Hello, hello.
I don't know why you say goodbye,
I say hello.
Hello, hello.
I don't know why you say goodbye,
I say hello.

You say yes (I say yes), I say no, (but I mean no)
You say stop (I can stop) and I say go go go (it's time to go).

Oh no,
You say goodbye, and I say hello.
Hello, hello.
I don't know why you say goodbye,
I say hello.
Hello, hello.
I don't know why you say goodbye,
I say hello.
Hello, hello, hello.

Heba, heba hello.
Heba, heba hello.

To the top, Johnny!

"The Fool on the Hill" (Lennon/McCartney)--Cool! Paul plays the recorder and the flute on this track! Sweeeet!

Day after day, alone on a hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still.
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he's just a fool,
And he never gives an answer.
But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning 'round.

Well on the way, head in a cloud,
The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud.
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he a,ppears to make,
And he never seems to notice.
But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning 'round.

And nobody seems to like him,
They can tell what he wants to do, And he never shows his feelings.
But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning 'round.

Oh, round and round and round and round and round.

He never listens to them,
He knows that they're the fools.
They don't like him.
The fool on the hill sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning 'round.

Oh, round and round and round and round and round.

To the top,Johnny!

"Magical Mystery Tour" (Lennon/McCartney)--When the recording sessions for this song began, only one line of the lyrics had been written.

Roll up, roll up for the Magical Mystery Tour,
Step right this way!

Roll up--Roll up for the Mystery Tour.
Roll up--Roll up for the Mystery Tour
(Roll up) I've got an invitation (Roll up for the Mystery Tour)
(Roll up) To make a reservation (Roll up for the Mystery Tour).

The Magical Mystery Tour is waiting to take you away,
Waiting to take your away.

Roll up--Roll up for the Mystery Tour.
Roll up--Roll up for the Mystery Tour
(Roll up) We got everything you need (Roll up for the Mystery Tour).
(Roll up) Satisfaction guaranteed (Roll up for the Mystery Tour).

The Magical Mystery Tour is hoping to take you away,
Hoping to take you away.

Ahh, the Magical Mystery Tour.
Roll up--Roll up for the Mystery Tour

(Roll up) I've got an invitation (Roll up for the Mystery Tour)
(Roll up) To make a reservation (Roll up for the Mystery Tour).

The Magical Mystery Tour is coming to take you away,
Coming to take you away.
The Magical Mystery Tour is dying to take you away,
Dying to take you away--take you today.

To the top, Johnny!

"Lady Madonna" (Lennon/McCartney)--Paul has said that Lady Madonna is all women.

Lady Madonna children at your feet
Wonder how you manage to make ends meet
Who finds the money when you pay the rent
Did you think that money was heaven sent
Friday night arrives without a suitcase
Sunday morning creep in like a nun
Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlace
See how they'll run

Lady Madonna lying in the bed
Listen to the music playing in your head
Tuesday afternoon is never ending
Wedn'sday morning papers didn't come
Thursday night your stockings needed mending
See how they'll run

Lady Madonna children at your feet
Wonder how you manage to make ends meet

To the top, Johnny!

"Hey Jude" (Lennon/McCartney)--You all know that this was written for Julian Lennon after his parents separated.

Hey Jude don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

Hey Jude don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
And anytime you feel the pain
Hey Jude refrain
don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool
Who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Da da da da da da da da da

Hey Jude don't let me down
You have found her now go and get her
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

So let it out and let it in
Hey Jude begin
you're waiting for someone to perform with
And don't you know that it's just you
Hey Jude you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder
Da da da da da da da da da

Hey jude don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under yourskin
Then you'll begin to make it better,
better, better, better, better, better,
Oh, da da da da da da da Da da da da
Hey Jude
Da da da da da da Da da da da Hey Jude...

To the top, Johnny!

"Revolution" (Lennon/McCartney)--This is a faster, louder version of the slower "Revolution 1" found on The Beatles.

You say you want a revolution
Well you know we all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know we all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know we'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know we're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know we all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know you better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright alright

Alright alright alright alright
alright alright alright alright

To the top, Johnny!
