"Beatle Greetings" (Speech)--Meet the Beatles!

Ringo: I'm Ringo and I play the drums.

Paul: 'Ey, well, I'm Paul and I play the uh...uh...bass.

George: I'm George and I play a guitar.

John: I'm John and I too play a guitar...sometimes I play the fool.

To the top, Johnny!

"From Us To You" (Lennon/McCartney)--This was the title of a Beatley program that was broadcast on public holidays.

Da da da da da dum dum da
Da da da da da dum dum da

If there's anything that you want
If there's anything we can do
Just call on us and
We'll send it along
With love from us to you, to you, to you, to you

To the top, Johnny!

"Riding On A Bus" (Speech)--Brian Matthew gets the scoop on what the Beatles really miss about...not being Beatles!

Brian Matthew: Before we hear another song fellows there are a few things I'd like to ask you. First of all, do you ever get tired of being Beatles?

Yawning from all the boys, and various answers of "no" "I don't think so..." "not so bad..." and etc.

Paul: I don't think so, really.
Brian Matthew: You don't ever?
Paul: No, just occassionally you get cheesed off with people writing rubbish about you, which you get often.
John: Yeah,I agree with that--I've had a divorce and half a dozen kids!
[Laughter]
Brian Matthew: Now what do you uh...well, I mean, doesn't it...Isn't this a big sort of drag to go around explaining to your wife that your not divorced or--
John: No, she knows I'm not divorced 'cause I keep seeing her every day, you see.

Brian Matthew: Yes, but what about the simpler things, like uh..?
Paul: Like riding on a bus.
Brian Matthew: Yeah, or going into just about any resturant you want...?
Paul: Well, yeah, you miss those sort of things...
John: We go to certain ones...
George: We go to the ones where people are so snobby they pretend they don't know us so we have a good time.
Paul: Joe's Cafe!
Brian Matthew: Yeah, that figures.
Paul: Joe's Cafe! Social comment that, you know.
George: It is.

To the top, Johnny!

"I Got a Woman" (Charles)--An American hit for Ray Charles that the Beatles quite liked.

Well, I got a woman way cross town
She's good to me, oh ho yeah
Said I got a woman way cross town
She's good to me, oh yeah

She gives me money ev'rytime I need
Yes, you know she's a kind of friend indeed
Said I got a woman way cross town
She's good to me, oh ho yeah

She says she loves me early in the mornin'
Just for me, oh ho yeah
She says she loves me early in the mornin'
Just for me, oh yeah

She says she loves me just for me, yeah
You know she loves me so tenderly
Said I got a woman way cross town
She's good to me, oh yeah
Ow!

She's there to love me
All day and night
Never grumbles or fusses
Just treats me right
Never runnin' in the streets
Leave me alone
She knows a woman's place
Is right back there with her hangin' 'round the home

Got a woman way cross town
She's good to me, oh yeah
Well, I got a woman way cross town
She's good to me, oh yeah

Well, she's my baby, don't you understand
That I, I, I, I, I'm her lovin' man
Said I got a woman way cross town
She's good to me, oh ho yeah

Well, that much is alright
Well, that much is alright

I got a woman
Way cross town
She's good to me
Oh ho ho yeah

To the top, Johnny!

"Too Much Monkey Business" (Berry)--The Beatles had been singing this song since 1960, including in Hamburg, and this performance on the CD is the fourth for the BBC. I guess they liked it, huh?

Runnin' to and fro, hard
Workin' at the mail
Never fail
Get the mail
Yeah, some rotten deal
Ow!

Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business for me to invite 'em again

Say me
Talkin' to me
Tryin' to run me up a creek
She used to buy one
Try to pay me again next week
Ow!

Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business for me to invite 'em again

Long-haired, good-lookin'
Tryin' to get me hooked
Or me to marry
Settle down
Get the horn by the bull
Ow!

Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business for me to invite 'em again

Mediocre money
Bein' fightin' in the hall
Army bunk, army go
Army chow, army cook
Ow!

Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business for me to invite 'em again

Same thing every day
Gettin' up, goin' to school
No need to make complainin'
My objection's overruled
Ow!

Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business for me to invite 'em again

Workin' in the fillin' station
Too many tires
Wipe the windows
Check the tire
Check the oil and all the gas
Ow!

Too much monkey business
Too much monkey business
Don't want your moderation, get away, leave me

To the top, Johnny!

"Keep Your Hands Off My Baby" (Goffin-King)--The Beatles sang this song as their Saturday Club debut.

We've been friends for oh so long
I let you share what's mine
When you mess with the girl I love
It's time to draw the line

Keep your hands (keep your hands) off my baby
I ain't'a gonna tell you but one more time
Woh, keep your hands (keep your hands) off my baby
Boy, you get it through your head
That girl is mine

I don't mind if you lend my clothes
But you will be in touch
There is somethin' that you get straight
There's one thing you don't touch

Keep your hands (keep your hands) off my baby
I ain't'a gonna tell you but one more time
Woh, keep your hands (keep your hands) off my baby
Can you get it through your head?
That girl is mine

Keep your hands (keep your hands) off my baby
I ain't'a gonna tell you but one more time
Woh, keep your hands (keep your hands) off my baby
Can you get it through your head?
That girl is mine

(Keep your hands) woh, keep your hands off my baby
She's mine (keep your hands off my baby)
You better watch yourself now
Boy, you get it through your head
That girl is mine

To the top, Johnny!

"I'll Be On My Way" (Lennon/McCartney)--This was the B-Side of Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas debut single. This is the only Beatles recording of this song.

The sun is fading away
That's the end of the day
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way

Just one kiss and I'll go
Don't hide the tears that don't show
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way

To where the winds don't blow
And golden rivers flow
This way will I go

They were right I was wrong
True love didn't last long
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way hey

To where the winds don't blow
And golden rivers flow
This way will I go

They were right I was wrong
True love didn't last long
As the June light turns to moonlight
I'll be on my way hey
I'll be on my way oh
I'll be on my way oh
I'll be on my way...

To the top, Johnny!

"Young Blood" (Leiber-Stroller-Pomus)--This was recorded at the Beatles audition for Decca on January 1,1962.

I saw her standing on the corner (Yip yip boom)
A yellow ribbon in her hair (Yip yip boom)
I couldn't stop myself from calling
Well look a-there, look a-there
Wow look a-there, well look a-there
Young blood, young blood, young blood
I can't get you out of my mind

I took one look and I was fractured (Yip yip boom)
I tried to walk but I was lame (Yip yip boom)
I tried to talk but I just stuttered
Well what's your name, what's your name
Well what's your name, well what's your name
Young blood, ah young blood, young blood
I can't get you out of my mind

A crazy stop, she was the top
I tried to follow her all the way home
Things went bad, I met her dad
He said, "You'd better leave my daughter alone"
Ow!

Well I tried to speak but I just stuttered (Yip yip boom)
I saw the rising of the sun (Yip yip boom)
And all along my heart was falling
While you're the one, you're the one
While you're the one, ah you're the one
Young blood, oh young blood, yeah young blood
I can't get you out of my mind
Yeah young blood, oh young blood, yeah young blood
I can't get you out of my mind

To the top, Johnny!

"A Shot of Rhythm and Blues" (Thompson)--This was performed three times on the BBC, and what you hear on the CD is the last.

Well, if your hands start a-clappin'
And your fingers start a-poppin'
And your feet start a-movin' around

And if you start to swing and sway
When the band starts to play
A real cool way out sound

And if you get to can't help it
And you can't sit down
You feel like you gotta move a round

You get a shot of Rhythm and Blues
With just a little Rock and Roll on the side
Just for good measure

Get a pair of dancin' shoes
Well, with your lover by your side
Don't you know you're gonna have a lot of pleasure?

Don't you worry 'bout a thing if you start to dance and sing
And chills comin' up on you
And if the rhythm finally gets you and the beat gets you too
Well, here's something for you to do

Get a shot of Rhythm and Blues
With just a little Rock and Roll on the side
Just for good measure

Get a pair of dancin' shoes
Well, with your lover by your side
Don't you know you're gonna have a lot of pleasure?

Don't you worry 'bout a thing if you start to dance and sing
And chills comin' up on you
And if the rhythm finally gets you and the beat gets you too
Well, here's something for you to do

Get a shot of Rhythm and Blues
Get a pair of dancin' shoes
Get a shot of Rhythm and Blues
Well, with your lover by your side
Don't you know you're gonna have a lot of pleasure?

Don't you worry 'bout a thing if you start to dance and sing
And chills comin' up on you
And if the rhythm finally gets you and the beat gets you too
Well, here's something for you to do
Well, here's something for you to do
Well, here's something for you to do

To the top, Johnny!

"Sure to Fall (In Love With You)" (Perkins-Claunch-Cantrell)--A Carl Perkins favorite of the boys.

I'm sure to fall, fall in love
I'm sure to fall in love with you
You are so sweet and so near
I'm sure to fall in love with you

So hold me tight
Let tonight be the night
Darling don't ever let me go

Loving you is the natural thing to do
I want you for the rest of my life

So hold me tight
Let tonight be the night
Darling don't ever let me go

Loving you is the natural thing to do
I want you for the rest of my life

To the top, Johnny!

"Some Other Guy" (Leiber-Stroller-Barrett)--The Beatles were filmed singing this song by Granda Television (I think) on August 22,1962 at the Cavern with their new suit thingys.

Some other guy now, has taken my love away from me, oh now
Some other guy now, has taken away my sweet desire, oh now
Some other guy now, I just don't wanna hold my hand, oh now
I'm the lonely one, as lonely as I can feel all right

Some other guy now, is sippin' up the honey like a yellow dog, oh now
Some other guy now, has taken my love just like I'm gone, oh now
Some other guy now, has taken my love away from me, oh now
I'm the lonely one, as lonely as I can feel all right
Oh oh hoho
Oh yeah! Ow! Ow!

Some other guy, is makin' me very very mad, oh now
Some other guy now, is makin' my past seem oh so bad, oh now
Some other guy now, she was the first girl I ever had, oh now
I'm the lonely one, as lonely as I can feel all right
Oh oh hoho
I'm a-talkin' to you, right now
Ow!

Hey! Yeah!

To the top, Johnny!

"Thank You Girl" (Lennon/McCartney)--This B-side was recorded in front of live audience...wow, big deal...(Sorry these facts are really lame, but we must surely be learning here.)

Ah, ah, mm, you be good to me
You made me glad when I was blue
And eternally I'll always be
In love with you
And all I gotta do is thank you girl
Thank you girl

I could tell the world
A think or two about love
I know little girl on ly a fool
Would doubt our love
And all I gotta do is thank you girl
Thank you girl

Thank you girl for lovin' me the way that you do
(way that you do)
That's the kind of love that is too good to be true
Al all I gotta do is thank you girl
Thank you girl

Ah, ah, mm, you be good to me
You made me glad when I was blue
And eternally I'll always be
In love with you
And all I gotta do is thank you girl
Thank you girl
Ah, ah, ah

"Sha la la la la!" (Speech)--The Beatles and Lee Peters introduce the next song for the show Pop Go the Beatles.

Lee Peters: Next number was called sha la la la la...
John: You're joking...
Lee: La?
Paul: La!
Lee: La.But in fact, "Baby's It's You".

John: Why don't you do it in your famous James Mason impersonation voice? All right, go on. Come on, do it in...

Lee (speaking in his "James Mason impersonation voice): I thought this next number was called um...sha la la la la.In fact, "Baby It's You".
(The boys laugh through it all.)
Paul: Go on, go on...
Lee Peters: Was that all right?
John: Very good.
Lee: Ok...
John: Can you do Mickey Mouse?
Lee: Yes! All right, sing the song, fellows.
John: Okay, let's go.

To the top, Johnny!

"Baby It's You" (David-Bacharach-Williams)--You can actually hear the fade clearly instead of...well, hearing it fade.

(Sha la la la la la la)
(Sha la la la la la la)
(Sha la la la la la la)
(Sha la la la la)
It's not the way you smile that touched my heart, (sha la la la la)
It's not the way you kiss that tears me apart.
Oh, oh, many, many, many nights go by,
I sit alone at home and I cry over you;
What can I do?
Can't help myself....
'Cause Baby, it's you, (sha la la la la la la)
Baby, its' you. (sha la la la la la la)

(Sha la la la la)

You should hear what they say aobut you,
Cheat, cheat, (sha la la la la)
They say, they say you've never, never, never ever been true (cheat, cheat)
Oh, oh, it doesn't matter what they say,
I know I'm gonna love you any old way,
What can I do
When it's true
Don't want nobody, nobody
'Cause Baby, it's you, (sha la la la la la la)
Baby, it's you. (sha la la la la la la)

Oh, oh, many, many, many nights go by,
I sit alone at home and I cry over you;
What can I do?
Don't want nobody, nobody,
'Cause baby, it's you, (sha la la la la la la)
Baby, it's you. (sha la la la la la la)
Don't leave me all alone. (sha la la la la la la)
Come on home. (sha la la la la la la)
Baby, it's you...

To the top, Johnny!

"That's All Right (Mama)" (Crudup)--A favorite Elvis song of Paul's, especially since he had sung it since the early Quarrymen days in Liverpool.

Well, that's all right, Mama
That's all right with you
Yeah, that's all right now, Mama
Just anyway you do
That's all right, that's all right
That's all right my Mama, anyway you do

Well Mama, she done told me
Poppa done told me too
Said, "Son, that gal you're foolin' with
She ain't no gal for you"
That's all right, that's all right
That's all right my Mama, anyway you do
Woh

Well, I'm leavin' town, baby
I'm leavin' town for sure
Then you won't be bothered with me
Hangin' 'round your door
That's all right, that's all right
Yeah that's all right my Mama, anyway you do

Well, that's all right, Mama
Yeah, that's all right with you
That's all right now, Mama
Yeah anyway you do
That's all right, that's all right
That's all right my Mama, anyway you do
Ooh, ah hoo

Oh yeah

Ya da di dididi
Ya da di dididi
Ya da di dididi, I need your lovin'
That's all right, well, that's all right my Mama, anyway you do
Yeah, that's all right my Mama, anyway you do

To the top, Johnny!

"Carol" (Berry)--The Stones put this song on this Berry hit on their first album, y'know.

Oh Carol, don't let him
Steal your heart away
Well I've got to learn to dance
If it takes me all night and day

Well come into my machine
So we can move on out
I know a jumping little joint
Where we can jump and shout
It's not too far back on the highway
Not too long a ride
Well you take your car along
And you park it outside
A little cutie takes your hat
And you can thank her, ma'am
Well every time you're gonna drive
You find the joint is jammed

Oh Carol, don't let him
Steal your heart away
Well I've got to learn to dance
If it takes me all night and day
Auw
Auw

Well if you want to hear some music
Like the boys all play
Hold tight, tap your foot
Don't let it carry you away
Don't let the heat overcome you
'Cause they play so loud
While the music will treat you
When they get a crowd
Well you can dance
I know you will, you thought
I got my eyes on you baby
'Cause you dance so good

Don't let him
Steal your heart away
I've got to learn to dance
If it takes me all night and day
Well I've got to learn to dance
If it takes you all night and day

To the top, Johnny!

"Soldier of Love" (Cason-Moon)--John really like Arthur Alexander...this was another song that Alexander used to sing.

Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And surrender to me (Sha la, la)
Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me peacefully (Sha la, la) yeah (Sha la la)
Use your arms for loving me
Baby, that's the way it's gotta be (Ooh)

There ain't no reason for you to declare
War on the one that loves you so
So forget the other boys because my love is real
Come off your battlefield

Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me peacefully (Sha la, la)
Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me tenderly (Sha la, la) yeah (Sha la la)
Use your arms to hold me tight
Baby, I don't wanna fight no more (Ooh)

The weapons you're using are hurtin' me bad
But someday you're gonna see
That my love for you baby, is the truest you've ever had
A Soldier of Love, that's hard to be

Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me peacefully (Sha la, la)
Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And surrender to me (Sha la, la) yeah (Sha la la)
Use your arms to squeeze and please 'cause I'm the one that loves you so
(Yeah, soldier of love) Baby, lay down your arms
(Yeah, soldier of love) Baby, lay down your arms
(Yeah, yeah) ...

To the top, Johnny!

"A Little Rhyme" (Speech)--A cute little rhyme...

Rodney Burke: And for the final number John's got a card in his hand with a little rhyme in it...what is it?

John: It's from the form up a third at Hemle Hempstead.
Rodney: Oh!
John: It says:"Dear John, George, Ringo, Paul
We're hoping that you'll please us all.
A beaty song, and swinging voice,
We'll leave it up to you, your choice.
We think your fab and really cool
So brighten up our lives at school."
Well dig this: Here's Paul whistling "Clarabella."

To the top, Johnny!

"Clarabella" (Pingatore)--The Beatles sung this crazy song from the early days...1960...originally recorded by the Jodimars in 1956.

Well, I got a baby... crazy for me
Yeah, I got a baby... won't let me be
Woh, baby baby, Clarabella
Baby baby, Clarabella
Baby baby, wo wo, yeah uh

Well, she needs no coachin' on makin' love
All she needs is the stars up above
Woh, baby baby, Clarabella
Baby baby, Clarabella
Baby baby, wo wo, yeah uh
Ahh! Woo hoo

Well now, Clarabella. You're my honey, Clarabella
Ooh yeah now, Clarabella
I said you're my baby
Clarabella
Yeah, Clarabella, baby
Wo wo, yeah yeh

Well, she's got no time for a dungeries
Already knows her ABC's
Woh, baby baby, Clarabella
Baby baby, Clarabella
Baby baby, wo wo, yeah yeh
Ahh ow! Woo

Well now, Clarabella
Yeah. You're my honey, Clarabella
Woo ooh- You're my baby, Clarabella
You're my honey, Clarabella
Yeah, Clarabella, baby
Wo wo, yeah heh yeah, oh yeah

"I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry (Over You)" (Thomas-Biggs)--Released by Elvis on the UK album Rock 'n' Roll No. 1.

I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you
I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you
And if you ever say goodbye
And if you ever even try
I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you

I'm gonna love you more and more every day
I'm gonna love you more and more every way
And if you ever say goodbye
And if you ever even try
I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you

I'm gonna tell your Mother
Tell your Pappa too
So they'll know exactly
What I'm gonna do

If you ever say goodbye
If you ever even try
I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you
Wah hoo!

I'm gonna tell your Mother
Tell your Pappa too
So they'll know exactly
What I'm gonna do

If you ever say goodbye
If you ever even try
I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you
I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you
I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you

To the top, Johnny!

"Crying, Waiting, Hoping" (Holly)--Buddy Holly recorded this song in his apartment just weeks before he died. The Beatles sang this song for their unsuccesful audition at Decca record AND Thomas, you crack me up when you sing this song!

Crying, waiting, hoping you'll come back
I just can't seem to get you off my mind
Crying, waiting, hoping you'll come back
You're the one I love, I think about you all the time

Crying, do do do do, tear keep a falling all night long
Waiting, do do do do, it seems so useless I know it's wrong
Keep a crying, waiting, hoping you'll come back
Maybe someday soon it'll change and you'll be mine

Crying, do do do do, tears keep a falling all night long
Waiting, do do do do, it seems so useless I know it's wrong
Keep a crying, waiting, hoping you'll come back
Maybe someday soon it'll change and you'll be mine
Crying, waiting, hoping

"Dear Wack!" (Speech)--John's got a letter...

Brian Matthew: But despite the fact that the next request comes from Anton 32 Perry Road, Sherwood in Nottingham, it's "headed up the pool" and starts "Dear Wack." So, John, you take it from there.

[The Band begins to play!]

John: Dear Wack,
Please ask those gorgeous lads (he he!) called the Beatles (bu bu bu bu bum) to sing "You've Really Got a Hold On Me" for Die, Gus, Fizz, and me. Also for the Beatles themselves, especially Paul (ha!), and everybody that was in the Roy Orbison tour. I am a regular listener of Pop Go the Beatles. (Good lad, if you're a lad.) And please tell the boys that all the girls in our office think it is a fab show. (Oh, gear.)

Brian Matthew: Oh, all right, stop the band. [The band stops playing.] Oh, how splendid! Now, what are you going to sing for us?
John: "You've Really Got a Hold on Me", mother!

To the top, Johnny!

"You've Really Got a Hold On Me" (Robinson)--This song was recorded four times for BBC radio programs.

I don't like you
But I love you
See that I'm always
Thinking of you
Oh, oh, oh,
You treat me badly
I love you madly
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me, baby

I don't want you,
But I need you
Don't want to kiss you
But I need you
Oh, oh, oh
You do me wring now
My love is strong now
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me, baby

I love you and all I want you to do
Is just hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me

I want to leave you
Don't want to stay here
Don't want to spend
Another day here
Oh, oh, oh, I want to split now
I just can quit now
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me, baby

I love you and all I want you to do
Is just hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me

You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me

To the top, Johnny!

"To Know Her is to Love Her" (Spector)--Yup, Phil Spector gets his first hit with this song.

To know know know her
Is to love love love her.
Just to see her smile
Makes my life worthwhile.
To know know know her
Is to love love love her
And I do, and I do, and I do.
And I do, and I do, and I do.

I'll be good to her
And I'll make love to her.
Everyone says there'll come a day
When I'll walk alongside of her.
To know know know her
Is to love love love her
And I do and I do and I do.
And I do and I do and I do.

Why can't she see,
How blind can she be?
Someday she'll see
That she were meant for me.

To know know know her
Is to love love love her.
Just to see her smile
Makes my life worthwhile.
To know know know her
Is to love love love her
And I do and I do and I do.
And I do and I do and I do.

Why can't she see,
How blind can she be?
Someday she'll see
That she were meant for me.

To know know know her
Is to love love love her.
Just to see her smile
Makes my life worthwhile.
To know know know her
Is to love love love her
And I do and I do and I do.
And I do.

To the top, Johnny!

"A Taste of Honey" (Marlow-Scott)--My sister calls this "A taste of a bad Beatles song..." Nice, I know.

A taste of honey... tasting much sweeter than wine.

I dream of your first kiss, and then,
I feel upon my lips again,
A taste of honey... tasting much sweeter than wine.

I will return, yes I will return,
I'll come back for the honey and you.

Yours was the kiss that awoke my heart,
There lingers still, 'though we're far apart,
That taste of honey... tasting much sweeter than wine.

I will return, yes I will return,

"I Saw Her Standing There" (Lennon/McCartney)--Sung for their second appearance on the radio show Easy Beat.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 !

Well, she was just 17
You know what I mean
And the way she looked was way beyond compare
So how could I dance with another (ooh)
When I saw her standing there

Well she looked at me, and I, I could see
That before too long I'd fall in love with her
She wouldn't dance with another (whooh)
When I saw her standing there

Well, my heart went "boom"
When I crossed that room
And I held her hand in mine

Whoah, we danced through the night
And we held each other tight
And before too long I fell in love with her
Now I'll never dance with another (whooh)
Since I saw her standing there (Ahh!)

Well, my heart went "boom"
When I crossed that room
And I held her hand in mine

Oh, we danced through the night
And we held each other tight
And before too long I fell in love with her
Now I'll never dance with another (whooh)
Since I saw her standing there
Whoah since I saw her standing there
Yeah well since I saw her standing there

"The Honeymoon Song" (Theodorakis-Sansom)--What a strange song...used in a film called Honeymooon.

I never knew that a day like today lay before us
I've got the sun in my heart and my heart's in the sun
The skys are as bright as your eyes the horizon is open
Love is the ceiling feeling are reeling free as the air

Forever on and forever
Forever on side by side
Whoever knew that we too could be free as we fancied
Fancy is free but are we who are bound to each other by love
To each other by love

Whoever knew that we too could be free as we fancied
Fancy is free but we are who are bound to each other by love
To each other by love
To each other by love
To each other by love

"Johnny B. Goode" (Berry)--No, this is not Marty McFly's version, it's just a tad bit different, folks.

Deep down in Louisianna
Close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods
Among the evergreens
There stand a country cabin
Made of clay and wood
Where lives a young country boy
Named Johnny B. Goode
He never ever learned
To read or write a book so well
But he could play his guitar
Just like a-ringing a bell

Go go, go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Aah Johnny B. Goode!

He used to carry his guitar
In a gunny sack
Sit beneath the trees
By the railroad track
Oh sitting and a-playing
In the shade
Drumming to the rhythm
That the drivers made
People passing by
Used to stop and say
My oh my
That country boy can play

Go go, go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Aah Johnny B. Goode!

Well his mama told him
Someday you will be a man
And you will be the leader
Of a big old band
Many people coming
From miles around
To hear you play your music
Till the sun goes down
Maybe some day
Your name will be in light
Saying Johnny B. Goode tonight!

Go go, go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Go Johnny go go go!
Aah Johnny B.Goode!

To the top, Johnny!

"Memphis, Tennesse" (Berry)--Chuck Berry wrote this song, right?

Long distance information
Give me Memphis, Tennessee
Try to find the party
Trying to get in touch with me
She would not leave her number
But I know who placed the call
'Cause my uncle took the message
And he wrote it on the wall

Help me, information
Get in touch with my Marie
She's the only one who'd phone me here
From Memphis, Tennessee
Her home is on the south side
Just beyond the ridge
Just a half a mile
From the Mississippi Bridge

Help me, information
More than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her
And all the fun we had
We were pulled apart
Because her mom would not agree
Help me get in touch with her
In Memphis, Tennessee

The last time I saw Marie
She was waving me goodbye
With hurry homedrops on her cheek
That trickled from her eyes
Marie is only six years old
Information please
Help me get in touch with her
In Memphis, Tennessee

"Lucille" (Collins-Penniman)--Brian Matthews talks about the Everly Brothers because they had a hit with this song way back when. The Beatles with Paul McCartney paying tribute to the Everly Brothers with "Lucille".

Ah Lucille
Baby do your sister's will
Ah Lucille
Baby do your sister's will
Well you went up and married
But I love you still

Ah Lucille
Baby satisfy my soul
Ah Lucille
Baby satisfy my soul
Well you know I love baby
I'll never let you go

Babe I woke up this morning
Lucille was not inside
I asked her friends about her
But all their lips were tight

Lucille
Please come back where you belong
Well I'm talking to you baby
I'll never put you on
Aaaah! Wah!

Well Lucille
Baby do your sister's will
Oo Lucille
Yeah baby do your sister's will
Well you went up and married
But I love you still

"Can't Buy Me Love" (Lennon/McCartney)--Promoting the current single. It went to number one, anyway.

Can't buy me love, love
Can't buy me love

I'll buy you a diamond ring my friend if it makes you feel alright
I'll get you anything my friend if it makes you feel alright
'Cause I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

I'll give you all I got to give if you say you love me too
I may not have a lot to give but what I got I'll give to you
I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love, everybody tells me so
Can't buy me love, no no no, no

Say you don't need no diamond ring and I'll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can't buy
I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

"From Fluff to You" (Speech)--Alan 'Fluff' Freeman talks to Paul about his singing.

Alan: Paul.
Paul: Yes?
Alan: Now listen!
Paul: Yes?
Alan: Through your singing--
Paul: Mmm?
Alan: Do you have any particular idol that you've ever copied your singing style from?
John: What about my book, then? What about my book?!
Paul: Uh...
John: What about my book? What about my book, then?
Alan: John, go away!
Paul: Used to be sort of influenced by uh Elvis in the old days, I think.
Alan: Really?
Paul: Yeah, I used to love him.
John: WHAT ABOUT MY BOOK, THEN?
Paul: Chuck Berry...
Alan: Chuck Berry.
Paul: Yeah...Carl Perkins, and uh...Marvin Gaye, I think... can't sing like him, but I like him though--love him.
Alan: Paul, what about singing "Till There Was You"?

To the top, Johnny!

"Till There Was You" (Wilson)--From The Music Man, but Paul really liked Peggy Lee's version, obviously.

There were bells on a hill
But I never heard them ringing
No I never heard them at all
Till there was you

There were birds in the sky
But I never saw them winging
No I never saw them at all
Till there was you

Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and you

There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No I never heard it at all
Till there was you

Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and you

There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No I never heard it at all
Till there was you

Till there was you
