UFO Princess Valkyrie: Bride of Star Spirit Season

The time has come for Valkyrie & Kazuto Tokino to get married as one of the princess from Planet Valhalla, Inaruba, suggests that the time is right.  Can Valkyrie & Kazuto overcome their emotions from this sudden wedding announcement

Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline I've seen.  This section does contain some spoilers.  If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

The OVA consists of roughly four short side stories of the princesses.  Three new princess are shown for the first time in terms of having a role in the series.  They are Inaruba, Meemu, & Nesty.  The story has Inaruba telling Valkyrie & Kazuto to prepare themselves for the wedding during the Star Spirit season, which is approaching quickly.  As the season approaches, the story shifts to Raine, Sanada, & Meemu.  The middle parts of the OVA is mainly seeing more about each girl's background.  Plus, we get to see some minor new characters such as chibi Raine, teenage Raine, & Sanada's super heroine.

The last two episodes are the meat of the whole series.  Chibi Valkyrie runs away from home.  The reason was a simple argument about Rika Tokino didn't serve her the snack she wanted.  When Valkyrie comes back, she turns back into her normal adult form.  From here, she runs away & starts to doubt about her feelings for Kazuto & wonders if she should go with the wedding.  Kazuto feels the same as well.  When she finally understands her feelings, she returns back to Kazuto.  Both of them tell each other about their feelings.

In the last episode, Nesty comes in & chases off some space pirates that were going after the legendry Princess Moral.  At the same time, Tokino bathhouse faces a problem with their bathwall that needs to be renovated; causing possible closure of the business.  We also learn that Valkyrie has permanently stayed in her normal form, mainly because both Kazuto & her are feeling the same way about each other since they both share the same soul.  It has been decided by the Valhalla council to hold the wedding on Earth above the bathhouse & will not be covered by the media this time.  The Princess Morals will be used at the wedding.  As the wedding gets underway, the space pirates return to get the morals.  This causes a battle to occur.  At the end of the battle, the morals falls to Tokino Bathhouse & Valkyrie tries to stop them & save the bathhouse.  Kazuto chases her & se if she's alright.  He finds out that she's ok & something else he didn't expect.  Valkyrie & her child form come running & hugging him.  Nobody knows how Valkyrie split into two people & assume it may be from the power of the morals.  Again the wedding gets postponed & the morals are used as the new bath wall for the bathhouse, which saves their business.  This is how the OVA ends.

My Personal Review

UFO Princess Valkyrie: Bride of Star Spirit Season OVA is basically a bunch of side stories.  Although it has a main theme involved, it doesn't really touch on it until the end.  Personally, I think this would be good to watch if you have some time to spare.  Of course, you should watch seasons one & two beforehand or else you won't understand a lot of parts in the OVA

Animation

The character designs are the same as past seasons.  Big round eyes with round faces & a small pointy chin.  They still are cute & beautifully drawn.

The colours here are very close to the past seasons.  Being an OVA, I expected some bright & sharp colours.  However, I only got the bright part.  I personally think the OVAs should have been done a bit better since you aren't watching the episodes on TV.

The animation movements are what you would expect in the past seasons.  A lot of the scenes are reused again from past seasons with some minor changes.  However, you don't get to see Valkyrie transform from her child form to adult a lot here.  Some reused scenes come from the same episodes themselves.  One example would be Sanada changing into her super heroine costume.  Nevertheless, the motions are quite smooth in terms of animation style instead of real natural movements.  The animators pay more attention to the female buttock & chest areas a lot though.

Sound       

The sound effects for some reason aren't too good.  The loud explosions creates some fuzz.  This is very mysterious, coming from an OVA.  The sound crew may have reuse the sounds from the past season & didn't improve the quality.

The seiyuus are the same from the past seasons, which is a good thing.  Changes would have created some uneasiness for the viewers that got used to the character's voices.

With the exception of the opening & ending theme songs, the music here are the same from past seasons as well.  Cheerful & cute.

Story

It's actually a bunch of side stories put together.  The theme of getting Valkyrie & Kazuto to get married on the Star Spirit season is there in most episodes, but it's not heavily touched on until the last two episodes.  All the side stories are basically to introduce more of the princess & know some of their background.  The ending is quite a letdown that mainly disappoint a lot of fans, but this opens up to another possible season.

Overall Conclusion

UFO Princess Valkyrie: Bride of Star Spirit Season OVA shouldn't really be watched with a lot of interest.  Nothing here really will help develop into a possible next season.  Just know that three more princesses that have been introduce here & what happened to Valkyrie at the end of the OVA.  Knowing this only will be more than enough for a possible next season.  This should be watched if you are a real die-hard fan of the series or have nothing else to watch.

UFO Princess Valkyrie: Bride of Star Spirit Season OVA gets a seven out of ten from me.  This OVA is basically pure entertainment with a bunch of side stories thrown in.  Think of it as fan service.  Even though it's an OVA, I was disappointed with the quality of the animation & sounds.  Making it an OVA, I'm quite surprised that there isn't much detailed nudity here.  The TV series have some ecchi contents & the OVA strangely keeps that ecchi level the same instead of going a step further.
