Tsubasa Chronicles (Season Two)

Syaoran & company continues to search for Sakura's feathers in many different worlds.  This is the second season of Tsubasa Chronicles which continues from the first season.

Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline I've seen.  This section does contain some spoilers.  If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

Season two picks up where season one left off.  Syaoran & company continue their journey to different worlds to retrieve Sakura's lost feathers.  Meanwhile, Fei Wong Reed continues to watch the group in a different world.  Now, a mysterious figure is about to awake & haunts Syaoran. The figure takes over Syaoran a couple of times randomly along the group's journey.  They go to new worlds & sometimes back to old worlds in obtaining Sakura's feathers.  It's basically the same way that season 1 was as the group travels to different worlds in getting the feathers.

My Personal Review

Tsubasa Chronicles season two is a bit better than season one.  However, the format is still the same as Syaoran & the crew warp to many different worlds.  If you haven't seen season one yet, I strongly suggest watching that first before watching the second season.  If you have some background of the series from the manga, then I don't think there will be problems for you to watch it as is.

Animation

The character designs are exactly the same as in season one.  The same can be said about the colours & animation flow.  The action seems to be much better than season one as it's heart pounding.  However, they are quite a lot of silly movements now.  Plus, we have character face looking weird, especially the poker faced Syaoran.  Who would have thought that he would produce such a dumbfounded look?  For some reason, he does it a lot in this season

Sound       

The sound effects weren't bad.  But there seems to be some minor improvements such as projection & clarity.

The seiyuus are all here again from season one.  So, you don't need to adjust your ears to someone new.  It might be me, but the voices sounds much better here.  Probably because I got used to them or their characters have gone silly.  Sakura's character went from cute from season one to silly cute in this season.

The music is all the same here as season one.  Very little new stuff as it still has that folk feel.  The opening & ending themes sound much better now in my view.  But the musical artists are same as before.  As for the insert songs, they are quite nice with a mixture of ballads & soft rock.

Story

It's mainly dimension travelling to get Sakura's feathers back again.  It still has those other CLAMP characters from other series they made in this season.  Plus, all the characters that our heroes met in other words are recycled again & again.

The characters seem different now.  Syaoran is more loose than tight & seems to have less "pwnage" power now.  Plus, he has more of a standard idiotic main male character side now by getting too deep into his hobbies & the surprises he gets.  But, it doesn't show up very much at the start.  Later on, it appears a bit more.  Also, Sakura seems to be very air headed than before, but in a cute & funny way.  An example of this is the scene where her dragonfly vehicle just drops to the ground.

Overall Conclusion

Tsubasa Chronicle season two starts of nicely from where season one ended.  However, there seems to be something different about this season.  I'm enjoying it more than the previous.  Sadly, the story doesn't end yet as season three was in the works.  It was announced before season two aired actually.

Tsubasa Chronicle season two gets a 7.5/10.  The storyline is still the same as different worlds are travelled about.  Again, this can probably get boring after awhile like season one, but it manages to make up for it with different themes for each worlds with CLAMP's characters from different series.  However, season two ended up like season one where all the characters do is travel & collect feathers every time.  Also, they managed to go back to some of the worlds they had been to before.
