Information of Anime

Shuffle! Memories is a retelling of Shuffle!  It focuses on the relationship of the five girls that Rin Tsuchimi knows.

Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline I have seen.  This section does contain some spoilers.  If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

The show is nothing more than recaps of Rin's relationship with each girl.  The first episode is a refresher of the Shuffle! world.  After that, it focuses on each girl on a two part arc.  It does the first part of each girl first before doing the last part.  The only new stuff is in the final episode where the crew go on a trip on God's ship where some "interesting" things happen.

My Personal Review

Shuffle! Memories is a waste of time & money for the studio.  The title "Memories" is really what the show is about.  I thought it would be a retelling of the story or an continuation of some sort.  If you haven't seen the TV show before, then you won't be missing anything here.  Just watch the last episode since that's the only new thing.

Animation

The same as the previous TV show since it's mainly clips from it.  The character designs look like the same ones from the game, which is a good thing.  They are cute & well drawn.  However, I felt the girls' faces are very similar to each other & some of the drawings gets ugly with flat faces & disfigured body proportions.  The only new stuff are in the opening & ending credits.  However, the drawings are the same with no changes.  However, it seems to make the show a little bit fresh.

The colours are pretty dull & is easy on the eyes.  It matches well the city's buildings & the nature sceneries.

The animation movement was pretty silly at the beginning with bodies flying around the place when Rin gets chased by the fanclubs.  Afterwards, it began to use realistic natural movements.  So natural, you can really enjoy all those ecchi scenes.

Sound

The same as the previous TV show again.  The sound effects are quite soft & quiet for some reason.  Even parts where loud banging & hitting are involved sounded soft.  I'm assume the writers didn't want to go wild on them since it looks like they want to make Shuffle! like a live action romantic drama.

The voice actors of the girls didn't sound good to me.  Nerine sounded like she had a sore throat & Lisianthus' voice is harsh even though she tries to some cute.  They irradiated me a bit.  What's more bad are the voices of Asa & her mother.  Her mother sounded much younger than Asa.  It almost makes her like a little sister to Asa.

The music is mainly soft ballads in the show.  There are some quick paced ones & they fitted the show well.  Although they were nice, I didn't enjoy them much.  Probably because they were too light for me.  The opening & ending theme songs are not really new when we start to hear them in episode two & onwards.  They are actually image songs from past Shuffle! drama & image CDs.  Some are good & some aren't so great.

Story

There is really no storylines here.  It's all recaps & summaries of the girls & their relationship with Rin.  There's nothing new here at all until you reach the final episode.  It doesn't link to any of the past episodes or the storyline as it's mainly fanservice.

Overall Conclusion

Shuffle! Memories is nothing by a recap of the previous TV show.  It offers nothing new & probably made to feed Shuffle! fans.  Unless you have never seen the previous show or want a refresher of the story, I don't recommend watching this at all.  I would only suggest watching the final episode.

Shuffle! Memories gets a five out of ten from me.  This show is nothing by a summary of the Shuffle! TV show.  It's not worth the time watching it as it has nothing new.  Even the final episode wasn't worth the wait even though it was funny & ecchi.
