Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS) Below is a summary of the storyline I have seen. This section does contain some spoilers. If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section. If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on. There is no story line in this series. It mainly follows the everyday life of one of the three Minami sisters: Kana, Chiaki, & Haruka. Each girl is in different grade levels & schools with Haruka being the oldest & Chiaki being the youngest. Some of the situations that the girls encounter are love, physical body stuff, family members, etc. Later on, another family that has the same last name which has three brothers & one sister comes into the picture. The show ends with the New Year just started. |

My Personal Review Minami-Ke was introduced to me by a friend. At first, it wasn't too appealing to me. It was watching past the couple of episodes that managed to get me hooked. Animation The character designs gave me the impression that the character has this cat appearance. The mouths are pointy at the top & the eyes are large & round. The nearly perfectly round faces gave me that impression as well. There are moments where the faces turn to realistic mode with sharp eyes & thick detailed lips. It's kind of freaky at times. For the body proportions, they are kind of off at times. The legs & arms can be strangely thin & the arms too. They are out of shape too. The colours are very dull but bright. It's kind of bold & stands out a bit. The backgrounds are very simple. They are some details in them to create a mood. But a lot of them are plain as the walls have nothing on them. The animation movements are descent as they are more on the realistic side. It's quite smooth. Sound There are a lot of strange sound effects here mixed with some normal ones. They do add some impact to the show. The seiyuus aren't too bad her. They have perform their roles well; making their characters likable. The music here are cute & silly ones. Mainly on the pop side. They lighten the moods well for that humourous effect. Story Technically none at all in terms of a main show plot. The episodes don't link to one another with the exception of introducing new characters & relationships between them. Each episode is broken down to around three to four skits that either link to each other or not. Some of the situations can be a bit extreme where Kana thinks of them way outside the box such as thinking a love confession is a fighting challenge. They can be weird than normal. Overall Conclusion Minami-Ke is a great show to watch. The comedy is funny even though it looks like a light one. It was a bit slow & boring at the start, but it can build up to you in the later episodes. I recommend watching this if you like comedy. Minami-Ke gets a 8.5/10. The show is weird, but funny at the same time. It has simple humour that kind of stretches it beyond normal. Plus, the characters are likable & their personalities will get to you where you would probably have more than one favourite character in the show. Strangely enough, the new Minami-Ke: Okawari show follows the next week after. |
