Information of Anime

Momoko Ichihara dreamt of being a seiyuu after watching her favourite anime show which features her favourite seiyuu, Minato Ichinose.  Since then, she has been training very hard in becoming a seiyuu to star with him.  She & four other girls passes a seiyuu company audition by Lambda Eight & receive training.  However, the training is very intense as it requires both mental & physical labour.

Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline I've seen so far.  If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

Basically, we see the five girls undergo seiyuu training.  Because they are amateurs, they do very little roles.  Although it's unknown how the other fours girls (Amane Oohara, Yurika Sasaki, Tsubasa Ono, & Eri Daimon) were selected, Momoko was selected for her excellent stomach muscles & loud voice.  Momoko lives in a small dorm with several other people.  One of them is Atari Maeda, who works for an anime studio company.  Momoko discovers that his studio does her favourite anime show & Momoko immediately joins his company, not only because it makes her favourite anime show, but to earn some income.  Although Atari is tried out from work, he does help Momoko with her training at times.

I'll update this when something happens in the show.

My Personal Review

Love Get Chu isn't a very good anime show.  It was released when the trend of idols & seiyuus was high.  I decided to watch this basically for the comedy.

Animation

The character designs are quite large on the faces.  The young female characters have large eyes & short chubby faces with a fairly sharp chin.  They are pretty much the same with some minor facial distinctions here & there.  The fashion side has this earry 90's look.  The characters aren't very appealling to look at as they were quite plain.

The backgrounds are okay.  Not a lot of details & it does have it's dull side at times.

The colours are dull & bright.  They do give some life to the animation, but it's not very eye catching.  Pleasant on the eyes though.

In terms of the animation movement, it's a mixture.  Sometimes the movements are realistic & sometimes the movements are not normal.  But they are quite smooth with some choppy frames found.

Sound

The sound effects are really on the silly side.  Probably because to make the show cute.  The sounds aren't too clear at times as there are some fuzzes here & there.

The seiyuus here are pretty bad that I thought.  They actually match well as amateurs.  Because some of them are actually new to the seiyuu world in real life.  It gives the show a somewhat realistic approach.  However, the portraying of their characters when they aren't doing seiyuu training is very rough.  It lacks emotion & energy.  The older female characters & male characters aren't too much of a problem as a majority of them have done a lot of work in the past.

The music is mainly pop idol related music here, which is pretty much expected.  Almost made me think that the show is a musical.  Some of the music is good. but there are some that are a bit too cute.  At least, it focuses on the seiyuu & anime world.

Story

The show gives the audience some idea on how the anime & seiyuu industry works.  However, it goes a bit overboard.  We see some of the studio staff members being strong otakus where there is one staff member that tries to look up a dress of an anime female character on a poster.  It was very bizarre when I saw that even though it's a bit funny.

As for the story itself, I felt it was a little dry; mainly because of its poor display of the anime & seiyuu industry.  Along the five girls have some fairly good backgrounds of where they are coming from, the development felt a bit slow even though it does have the realistic touch.  The love element is your common one as well.  Momoko is in love with Ichinose & doesn't think much for Atari.  Atari thinks Momoko's dream to be in anime industry won't work for her & yet he still helps her.  I don't expect much in terms of the love side really.

I'll update this when I finish watching the show.

Overall Conclusion

Love Get Chu is a something that you shouldn't really look forward in watch.  Although it has some bit of the anime & seiyuu world, it doesn't really display it very much.  It's almost like what common people would think about it or dream about.  You won't too much about it if you are somewhat familiar or know a bit about those industries.  The show isn't that bad, but you would be better off watching something else.

So far, Love Get Chu scores a six out of ten.  This score & review may change when I'm done watching the show.  The story isn't very good & the surprises are too predictable.  The show seems to exist due to the popularity of the ever growing seiyuu industry in Japan & tries to profit from it.  You would probably give up on this 25 episode show before you see it's midway point.
