Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline I've seen.  This section does contain some spoilers.  If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

Something about Kouta attracts spirits.  This is the reason Chizuru chases him.  They are able to combine their body & souls into one when she possesses his body.  To do it, the possessed person must accept the spirit which allowed Chizuru to possess Kouta easily.  Later on, a wolf spirit named Nozomu Ezomori transfers into Kouta's class & immediately falls for him.  Thus a battle for Kouta between Chizuru & Nozumo occurs using sexy methods.  Because of this, Kouta is named the Great Erotic King & viewed as a very perverted person by the students in his school.  Although he's a bit perverted, he's actually an innocent victim in this.

As the show progress with a lot of extreme ecchi humour, the bond between Kouta & Chizuru gets stronger.  The evidence is from how she manages to possess him & become a powerful combination.  However, Chizuru's parents are bit concern about her loving a human.  This goes to the point where the two of them get tested about the bonds & Kouta meeting her parents.

The show nears the end when Kouta is finally asked by Chizuru how he feels for her.  While she thinks that he's playing hard to get, he's actually too embarrassed to confess to her which is shown in the final episode.  In the end, he manages to confess to her.

My Personal Review

Kanokon is a funny show that I decided to pick up for the heck of it.  Didn't know what it was about at the time.

Animation

The character designs are pretty cute.  The male characters looks a bit feminine though.  It's either the face or the hairstyle.  The clothing is mainly school uniform since most of the action does take place in or around the school.  As the show progress, the quality goes down a lot.  Luckily, it's mainly the background/extra characters.

The backgrounds are pretty nice & detailed.  They aren't simple & plain designs.  Quite interesting for a short show.

The colours are on the bright side.  However, it's not very bright as it has some dullness.  The characters stand out a bit from the background as the colours are a bit bolder.

The animation flow is pretty smooth & a lot of comic actions.  Heavy cycles & jerking isn't too noticeable in this show.

Sound

The sound effects are pretty good & clean.  Lots of silly sounds.  Pretty much on cue most of the time.  I think there are some parts where the timing is slightly off.  It was pretty hard to notice & catch.

The seiyuus aren't too bad.  Ayako Kawasumi plays Chizuru & I somewhat felt her performance is a little soft.  She got the character idea down, but Chizuru seems to be a bit off with the soft voice that isn't too sexy like. Mamiko Noto plays Kouta which is surprising to me.  Although she doesdo some male roles, I felt her performance here is a bit off.  Her voice changes a bit as Kouta's voice sways from a guy to a girl at times.  Overall, her voice isn't steady.

The music contains mostly pop songs.  I don't remember much about them since my attention is on the jokes..

Story

A somewhat love triangle between Chizuru, Nozumu, & Kouta.  What attracts the two spirits to him is unknown at the start.  He seems to have some sort of special abilities in him.  However, none of this as well as to why he's targeted by other spirits is explained.  It's all ecchi jokes that dominate the show.  But I thought there was a bit too many of it.  The show does well in the laughing department without the visual stuff.  I did find some of them to be more funny than the perverted ones.

The ending was okay.  It only wrapped up the relationship part between Chizuru, Nozumu, & Kouta.  The dangers & why Kouta is attractive is not really explained or touched very much.

Overall Conclusion

Kanokon is basically a mini harem filled with fun ecchi jokes.  I would suggest giving this a go if you are into ecchi anime with lots of perverted jokes.

Kanokon gets an seven out of ten.  It's really a great anime show to watch if you are into perverted stuff.  It's a got a lot of it here & it's kind of hard to hold it in.  As for the story itself, there's really nothing.  Unless you want to focus on the love relationship between Chizuru & Kouta which is quite weak, there's nothing to follow really.
