Inukami! THE MOVIE

Information of Anime

Karina is dead.  As his funeral takes place, a special unit called Project K is disposing all the perverts in the city.  As a result, Keita Kawahira is one of the wanted people in the list.

Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline I've seen.  If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

The movie somewhere in the middle of the TV's plot where Karou is still alive.

Project K catches all the perverts in the city with Keita being one of few left.  Yoko comes to his aid as their run from them.  In meantime, Karina's funeral is taking place as Karou & his inukamis are figuring out how Karina died so suddenly when he was at a party at Keita's party with no problems.  Later on, it's revealed that a cursed box item took away Karina's soul & uses his true thoughts of hating perverted things into action.  Thus, the dead state of Karina.  It also taken his form & multiply itself to many Karinas.  So, Karina isn't dead & his body is about to be cremated.  With the team work of the inukamis & the perverted powers of Keita, they defeat the fake Karina.  Thus, waking up Karina just as he's getting cremated, which leads to the movie's end with all the perverts free.

My Personal Review

Inukami! THE MOVIE is a laugh fest fill with ecchi humour again.  However, it didn't seem to go beyond what the TV show did.

Animation

Same as the TV show, which is a good thing.  The character designs give all the main characters such round faces & big eyes.  Also, the pupils look a little freaky a bit.  It's not something that I'm use to seeing really.  But, the girls are still cute looking.  However, some of the male characters again look too feminine.  Aside from his voice, Keita's hairstyle & large eyes really makes him look like girl.  Also, I thought Hake was a girl as well until I heard him speak.

The backgrounds are pretty much on the dull side as not much details are put into it.

The colours are pretty dull, which is good for the sceneries.  For the characters, they are a little bright.  This helps distinguish them between them & the backgrounds.

In terms of the animation movement, it's a mixture.  Sometimes the movements are smooth & sometimes the movements look weird.  One example is where Keita was chasing Kaoru's Inukami's as a dog.  It really looked strange as if he was floating in the air.  There are a lot of those funny movements, but it mostly occurs during Keita's perverted moments or anything along those lines.  Overall, the flow is pretty smooth & flowing in most areas.

Sound       

The sound effects are more on the silly side since this is a harem type of anime.  The sounds were crisp & cued on the mark.

The seiyuus here are the same as the TV, which is good.  I really liked Keita's voice work as it makes him a pervert.  However, the voice pitch is quite high & makes him sound a bit feminine at times.  Also, there are times where his voice can't reach certain situations.  Using the dog example again, his barks were pretty weak.  For the girls, not too bad as they played their roles pretty well.  However, I won't consider them to be the best.  But, they are above average.

The music really helps create the mood well.  It's quite catchy as it has an upbeat pop feel to it.  I think the soundtrack is different from the TV show.

Story

Perverts getting caught & Keita fighting a cursed item.  It's pretty much the same as its TV show.  I felt like I was watching a TV episode instead of a movie.  The time length is almost like an episode from the TV show & the censorship doesn't go beyond.  You still get elephant heads on the male genitals, but it doesn't show up much.  Plus, no female nudity.  At most it was bras & panties.  It was mostly yaoi instead too.  However, the perverted characters go a bit beyond than what the TV show did; but not much.

Overall Conclusion

Inukami! THE MOVIE is a great anime show to watch for the laughs.  However, I felt this was good as a TV special or an OVA than a movie release.  It's short & practically like a TV episode.

Inukami! THE MOVIE gets a 7/10.  Funny to watch & a fair amount of ecchi humour; particularly the yaoi side.  However, the story is the same as a TV show & the length was short.  Plus, the censorship didn't go beyond what the TV show offered which was kind of a letdown.
