Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS) Below is a short summary of the storyline. This section does contain spoilers. If you haven't seen the anime yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section. If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on. All the episodes are separate from each other. In other words, they are small stories that focus on one of the five main heroines & her relationship with Junpei. Each involves them doing something for the film club. The episodes are focused first on Aya, then Tsukasa, then Satsuki, then a bit on Aya again. Two new characters are introduced in the series & they are Chinami Hashimoto & Kozue Mukai. From the looks of it, there isn't really a main storyline here. |

My Personal Review Ichigo 100% OVA provides a continuation to the TV series, but doesn't have their episode linked to one another. It follows the manga, but the episodes seems to be watched in any order you want; provided you know when the 2 new characters appear. I don't believe there is a storyline here, so I think it's mainly pure fanservice almost. I felt the OVA is more enjoyable than the TV series. However, the ecchi level is higher than the TV series. But no nudity is shown. Animation The first episode is different from the rest. It's probably because the character designs wasn't "set" since the studio didn't think they would make a TV series out of it. The remained of the OVA is the same as the TV series. But let's talk about the animation in the 1st episode. The character designs in the first episode looked ugly to me. Junpei looks totally different from the TV series due to his eyes & mainly his hairstyle. He looks very messy here as his hair looks much longer. Satsuki's face is different too. I didn't like how small her eyes were. It was like looking at a different person. The animation flow in the first episode isn't bad though. Very smooth & natural than the TV series. The colours were much brighter than the TV series here, which caused the background & characters to clash together. Luckily, some of the scenes are in dark areas & during the night where the characters & background don't mix together. For the remaining episodes, there are the same as the TV series. However, sloppiness isn't as bad. You don't see those "sudden acts" which makes you think "was that object on the ground, not in his hand?" kind of idea. The colours are still bright here, but not as bad as the first episode. The characters designs look a bit better than the TV series. Sound The sounds were pretty good & had that "anime" feel to it. In other words, some of the sounds aren't realistic when it comes to physical body contact. However, they are clean & clear. There are times where the sounds gets muffled, but they are usually loud sounds that don't happen much in the show. The music is different from the TV series. However, it wasn't bad & yet, not too good. But it manages to get the job done in terms of setting the mood of the scenes. The voice actors here are the same ones from the TV series, which is a good thing since you don't need to adapt to new voices. Story Ichigo 100% OVA has no story to it really. It's mainly a bunch of small stories on each girl mainly. With the exception of episode five, all of them are about their relationship with Junpei. The episodes are quite entertaining to watch & contains a bit more ecchi content. Overall Conclusion Ichigo 100% OVA is a continuation to the TV series, but the episodes don't flow with each other. You can probably get away without watching the TV series first since you don't need to understand a lot with what's going on. However, having a basic background of the characters would probably help. I found the OVA to be more entertaining. Probably because of the higher ecchi level. In my books, Ichigo 100% OVA gets a nine out of ten. I enjoyed watching the OVA with it's comedic elements & Satsuki stills remains my favourite character with her direct approaches. There are some episodes that I didn't like, but it was still enjoyable to watch. Since it continues where the TV series left off, it would have been nice to see a storyline. If you like harem high school life love comedy with a decent storyline, go watch Ichigo 100% OVA. Even if you don't, give it a try if you have time to kill. I would suggest watching the TV series first to get a taste of the characters & have a better storyline. |
