Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline.  This section does contain some spoilers.  If you haven't seen the OVA yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

It's basically Tessa walking around the base in search of her doll.  She lost it after being drunk when Melissa Mao gives her an alcoholic cocktail the night before.  After tracing her events, she tries to confess her feelings to Sousuke Sagara when she realizes that he treated her that night.  However, Sagara misunderstands her love as he thought she was expressing her love for alcohol.  This is pretty much how the story ends.

My Personal Review

Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid OVA is almost nothing like it's TV show.  It's more like Fumoffu to me due to it's comedy level.  It's more about laughs than drama.  Almost it's more of a fanservice to the fans wanting to see Tessa.

Animation

Everything are the same from the past Full Metal Panic shows.  No surprises here.  The colours are bright, the background is breathtaking with dull & light colours, & the animation has those quick actions where comedic moments appear.  However, the quality is pretty much the same as the TV show.  The animators could have upped the quality a bit to make it a real OVA.  I felt it was more of a TV special instead.

Sound

The sound effects are pretty crisp.  No fuzzes & very clean.  Also, there are quite a lot of weird or silly sounds in the OVA.

The voice actors are the same here, which is good.  No need to readapt to new voices.  Also, Tessa's voice really gives her that cute charm.

The music is good as most of the background music are the same from Fumoffu.  In fact, I think all of the songs are Fumoffu style & none of them seem to create a serious mood.  That is, serious "serious".

Story

Mainly Tessa retracing what she was doing in her drunken state & finding her doll.  It's more of a side story that probably happened after the end of the TV show since Sagara's character is more on the "goofy" side when he saw a half naked Tessa.  I found the story to be more on the Fumoffu due to the high comedy level.  The reason why it's TSR instead of Fumoffu is probably the characters.  Although it's doesn't have a strong major plot, the story line is written pretty well.  But, Tessa recalling her memories so easily & fast seems to be unreal.  But since this is an OVA, most OVAs don't do very well anyways in terms in giving a good storyline.

Overall Conclusion

Full Metal Panic! TSR OVA is basically pure entertainment.  It really feels like Fumoffu due to its amount of comedy & possible ecchi level.  Because of the characters, you need to watch the TV show first to get a good hand on understand the background of the characters to understand some of the jokes.  Although it's mainly Tessa fanservice, I strongly recommend watching this for the laughs.

FMP! TSR OVA receives a nine out of ten.  The humour is what really made this score pretty high.  Tessa is pretty cute through the OVA & the silliness of the other characters that you would probably not see from them is funny.  The downside about it is that it's basically fanservice & how Tessa manages to recover what she did that night is strangely quick & accurate.  For example, how did she remember that she said bad things to Sagara & telling him where her "house" was.
