Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Below is a summary of the storyline I have seen.  This section does contain some spoilers.  If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section.  If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on.

Basically short skits & comedy sketches of Ayu & Mayu's daily adventures.  The SD characters go though bizarre situations with out of this world results.  None of the episodes are linked to one another, but they use some references to them such as mecha Haruka.

My Personal Review

Ayumayu Theater wasn't something that I expected.  Even though it's a spinoff, it's just too much.  Personally, I won't recommend this if you were thinking it would be like the SD skits at the ending of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.  It was a disappointed for me.

Animation

The character designs look the same as the anime show Kimi ga Nozomu Eien's SD ending skits.  The girls look good & some are cute.  It's what really drew me into this ONA.

The colours are surprisingly dull.  I was expecting brighter colours.  But since it's an ONA, they tend to be be dull.

The backgrounds are good & aren't one dimensional objects.  It has some fairly nice details for an SD-type of short.

The animation movements are quite natural with those fancy funny superhuman-like movements.  Because this ONA is a parody/fanservice anime, you should expect a lot of them.  Plus, the animation does have some choppy parts because of this.  Missing frames are noticable.

Sound

The sound effects are mainly on the silly side since this is a comedy.

The seiyuus here are the same ones from the Kimi ga Nozomu Eien series.  However, I got tried of hearing Ayu & Mayu's voice too much.  I didn't like them initially from the original anime, but it was bearable since they didn't have that much screen time.  But it was kind of painful here for me.

The music isn't what you would expect from Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.  There's a lot of joyful ballads & silly rock tunes.  Personally, I didn't like any of the songs even though they were quite funny.

Story

It's way over the top here.  It's got mechas, world domination, evil overlords, aliens, & etc as Ayu & Mayu are the stars here.  They either win or fall in defeat.  Both with comedic results.  The episode don't link to one another which makes this ONA enjoyable without worries.  However, some of the skits aren't funny.  Either because it's too much or it's written poorly to catch the audience's attention.  Some of them were good, but some were just weird since has making Sky Temple as a battlefield under the new management of a new manager.  But overall, it's got no main storyline.

Overall Conclusion

I would personally recommend staying away from Ayumayu Theater which receives a grade of three out of ten.  It's not written well & most of the joke aren't funny.  It's more like a forced or dry laugh.  Although I did expect a lot of comedy involved, it was like a chore to watch.
