Introduction Aya's big sister Maya Natsume is Box 2 for The Greatest Tag Boxxx!!!!! project. I brought this Pinky from YesAsia since it was a bit harder to find where I live. Maya Pinky has been sold out & probably won't be reissued since this is a limited run product. Some of the pictures aren't clear & good. If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them. |

The Review
Same design as Box 1. The left side of the box has the body drawings of the three girls to make the full drawing with the three boxes. So Box 3 will have the heads. Some strange reason the top right of my box has the surface ripped off. My assumption is that the factory did this since it was like that under the sealed packaging. Weird. In the box, you get Maya Pinky, a fan, an extra body (school uniform), a bowtie for the school uniform, a display base, eight postcards (six are copies of past sexy works where three are Maya, one Aya, & one Aya & Chibi Maya, & one Chibi Maya; & two new drawings of Maya Pinky), & a booklet. Like Box 1, the booklet contains 17 pages of mixing & matching Maya Pinky, an interview with Oh! Great, & ads of Pinky products & Tenjho Tenge mangas. There is an one page ad for Box 3.
You probably heard people saying Maya looks like a cockroach when an ad showing the Pinky was displayed for the first time. In fact, it still does. Those hair antenna of her's & short hair gives that impression. She would probably look better if she had long hair instead. For you people that customize your Pinkys that want to know about that antenna, it's connected to the front hair part. It is possible to remove, but you need some force & a knife to take it out since it looks like it's glued there. The body stance is not bad. The way Maya holds the fan on her right hand looks really natural. Even without the fan, it still looks good. The kimono's not too bad as I thought. Nicely done in terms of the details. There is some molding issues as you can see on the sleeves. The skulls looks a bit funny since it's a bit on the cute side. I guess it was made like that to attract the female market. Personally, I would like it to look more "scarier" but it won't be a Pinky then. Like the skulls, the dragon on the fan is more on the cute side. Probably to attract female audiences again & keep it as a Pinky style. The fan was the only accessory include in the package. This was a bit of a disappointment after seeing how much accessories were in Box 1. Matching Maya's kimono, the display base has skulls & sakura blossoms. I don't think there is a need for this base since Maya can stand on her own. The school uniform differs from the one in Box 1. The shoes are brown & the white socks have that traditional Japanese school girl sock wearing style. For some reason, Maya's looks down on the ground when she is in her school uniform. I had to bend the neck a bit on the body to get her looking straight. Unlike Aya, Maya's facial expression is clearer to understand for me. She has the evil sinister smile as if she was teasing someone. This face matches her character very well. The paint job on the face is very good. |

Overall Conclusion I like Maya than Aya actually (not Pinky wise). It's probably because she's more sexier based on the drawings & merchandises I've seen of her. But back on topic, Maya Natsume Pinky isn't as bad as I thought it would be when I saw the ad pics of her. I like it. The cockroach appearance doesn't seem to bother me now as I rarely see her that way now. Most of the time, I have her displayed in her kimono with the fan on her right hand. I grade Maya a nine out of ten. The high score was obtained from the kimono stance & facial expression. The lost point was the lack of accessories it had after seeing Box 1. If you plan on getting Maya Pinky, your best bet is to look for it on online auctions. It has been sold out for a while & I haven't seen any online stores carrying it since. The market price I have seen for this Pinky is high, but decent. |
