Introduction Kotobukiya's Tomomi Aizawa Paro Paro Type was one of two figurines that was part of the first wave of the Welcome to Pia Carrot!! 3 PVC series. Sayaka Takai Tropical Type was the other. This was originally released as a resin model kit. Both the model kit & PVC figurine are now discontinued. I brought this figure a few days later after purchasing Sayaka Takai Tropical Type & this figurine was extremely hard to find due to its popularity at the time. It was so popular, Kotobukiya reissued it three or four times if I remember correctly. It was the second figurine in the series to have the most reissues; first being Sayaka Takai Tropical Type. Some of the pictures aren't clear & good. If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them. |

The Review
Except for the display base included, Tomomi comes out of the box without any assembly required. Putting her on the base was straightforward. She was secured to the base nicely with the stand holding her left leg. The workmanship on Tomomi is well done. It captures her grace & cute attitude. The ribbons swaying on the hat matches her pose with her right hand holding on to her it as if it was about to fly off. Check out the details on her dress & blouse. The cross patterns at the hem of Tomomi's dress & behind her collar of her blouse are sharp. No signs of poor workmanship there. The same can be said about the button that is attached to her dress. Even though it doesn't blend in well with Tomomi, it's still a fine job done on that small area. But her hand around that area isn't. Tomomi's hand is molded well with the exception of the pointing finger on her left hand. As you can see from the pic, it's a bit big. However, it's not noticeable unless you really look at it very close. But what about her face? Tomomi's facial expression is so cute! It matches her character perfectly. Also, look at the fine paint job done. The eyes is done nicely & evenly. Her open mouth smile is well done as well. Look at the front & side of her face. The paint of her tongue & the insides of her mouth don't bleed into each other. |

Overall Conclusion Figurines of Tomomi Aizawa, the highly popular character from Welcome to Pia Carrot 2.5! & Welcome to Pia Carrot 3!, should be made to capture her childish personality & Kotobukiya did just that! Hironori Tokunaga did an excellent sculpting job in expressing Tomomi's character in 3D form. Tomomi had never went back to her box ever since I displayed her for the first time. For some reason, her presence lightens up the mood in the room. Tomomi suddenly become one of my favourite characters the moment I put her on display. Aside from some very minor workmanship, I don't have any problems with this figurine. I'm very happy with it. So happy, I give it a ten out of ten! Tomomi is just that adorable! If you want to get your hands on this Tomomi figurine, you may have to pay a heavy price for it. I haven't seen any stores carrying this figurine for a long time. |
