Introduction

Kotobukiya's Welcome to Pia Carrot!! 3 PVC wave three introduces a new character in the lineup: Takako Kinoshita.  Takako is the oldest female character, at age 28, that you can date in the game.  She uses a larger scale than any of the past figurines at 1/7.  This figurine was originally available as a resin model kit in the past & has been discontinued for a long time.   I order the entire wave three from J-Hobby a couple of weeks after the announcement was made.

Some of the pictures aren't clear & good.  If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them.

The Review

Takako Kinoshita China Dress Version out of the box

Pull Takako out of the box & that's it.  Takako Kinoshita China Dress Version doesn't come with a display base since she is very stable as she is.  Take extra caution of her hair as it is tied down.  As for the box, this is the first time that the box is in a different colour other than white.

Takako from different sides

The objective of Takako's pose here is to make her sexy.  Her revealing long legs & tight dress shows her figure as she holds that steam basket. 

She's got legs, baby!  Yeah!

If you really want to get desperate, you can see Takako's butt showing a bit from that short dress.  No doubt this is a static position with no movement action.  But her sexiness makes up for it.  Observe the patterns on her dress.

A touch of Chinese flavour

It's obvious that the patterns on her dress are etched in due to the swirl of colours mixed together.  Nevertheless, it's gorgeous!  Very detailed, especially the roses.  The gold colour on the dress & trimmings does give it that Chinese touch.  Pay attention to her right arm.  I'm amazed how the sculptor put some work on the muscles.  It's shaped & molded realistically as if she is straightly bending that arm back.  The arm isn't totally straight like a bar.  But the hands looked a bit awkward.

The hands look flat.  In fact, there are.  Look at the hand holding the basket.  It's so flat that it's freaky.  Now look at the wrist on that hand.  It looks very unnatural & more freaky.  Try bending your wrist like that & observe.  Takako's wrist bending isn't human.  Then again, she isn't a real person.  Now look at the hand on the floor.  A bit better on the wrist side, but the hand is still flat.  It may not look that bad in the pic, but when you see the actual figurine in real life, it's that bad.  Also, they seem a bit big.  Although the hands were purposely made flat in order to hold the basket & as a support, Kotobukiya could have made the hands a bit better.

Care for some dim sum?

Takako's face is different from the other Pia Carrot girls.  It's mature & really represents her age.  Look at her eyes.  They are painted differently than the other girls.  Most of the girls almost have identical eyes with some minor variations.  Takako's face has more details such as the blush.  The facial expression is somewhat out of place though.  It does have that look of seducing a man, but it's more cute looking than sexy.  Her sexy body & cute face felt a little out of place for me.  However, Takako is a crazy character so the face does fit her a bit.

Overall Conclusion

To be honest, Takako Kinoshita China Dress Version is my favourite figurine out of all the lineup.  I also like her crazy character & is one of my top favourites.  Although the pose is static, the impression it gave me is quite sexy due to her figure & clothing.  Takako has never been back to her box since the day I pulled her out.

The workmanship is the best.  The dress & the details on it is what driven me to get this figurine.  Although the face didn't match well with her figure as I mentioned, it still look good.  However, the hands were a turn off.

I give Takako Kinoshita China Dress Version a 9.5/10.  What gave it a high score was the sexy pose & fine details of the dress.  I'm a sucker for Chinese dresses, especially ones with designs on it.  The reason I didn't give it a ten were the hands.  It's really that bad.

I would recommend people to get this Takako China Dress version figurine, but I feel most people will hold back on it.  The biggest reason is the price.  Just a scale increase of one, the price difference is huge compared to the 1/8 Pia Carrot figurines in this lineup.  If you are willing to spend about ¥500 more than this figurine, you can probably get a PVC figure at a 1/5 scale.  The price for some people may be too high, while others will think it's worth it.  I'll seriously admit this is quite a pricey figurine.  However, this is during the time it was first released.  Now that it's sold out, many people are starting to hunt for this figurine now for a high price.  In most cases, I've seen it go double the suggested retail price on online auctions.
