Introduction

Sayaka Takai makes another appearance in a Swimsuit Version in Kotobukiya's Welcome to Pia Carrot!! 3 PVC series in wave three.  I order the entire wave from J-Hobby a couple of weeks after the announcement was made.  This PVC figurine was originally sold as a resin model kit that is now out of production.  To be honest, I don't like figurines in swimsuits.  I don't find them appealling.  It may be because there isn't any "style".  But, I will be unbiased in this review.

Some of the pictures aren't clear & good.  If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them.

Sayaka Takai Swimsuit Version out of the box

Very little work in assembling this figurine.  Just place her on the display base included.  Take note though that the pegs on the base is a bit different due to the way Sayaka positions her feet.  But, putting her on wasn't a problem.

Sayaka from different sides

I'm not too sure what to make out of this pose.  It's a bit unique to me.  It looks to me that she is in shallow waters of a beach, pulling one side of her towel to prevent it from getting wet.  Pulling the towel, she is revealing her legs while telling you to come into the water.  That's what I'm getting from her pose.  Nevertheless, the pose does display some sort of movement in action.  Her swimsuit is quite fancy & isn't just a regular type of swimsuit.  Let's look into some of the fine details of this figurine.

Light pink nail polish

It's quite interesting to see that Sayaka's nails are painted on her hands & feet.  From personal experience, those areas are not easy to paint due to the small surfaces.  The paint job done here is not bad.  Some parts are uneven & the colour is pretty light in some areas, but otherwise it's pretty decent work.

The towel around Sakaya's waist is quite detailed.  The patterns are crisp with no signs of sloppiness.  The folds & creases are very well done.  It makes look quite real in terms of that position.

A fine job done on Sakaya's face in terms of painting.  The colours on her open mouth smile is bold to give that happy expression on her face.  If you are a picky & look at it up close, there is some very slight paint bleeding on the dark red part.  Sakaya's eyes are not looking straight.  They seem to her make look at her right.  Her eyes is one of the factors that made it hard for me to determine what kind of pose she is in.

Overall Conclusion

Sayaka Takai Swimsuit Version figurine was a hard one for me to evaluate.  Her pose was one of the main factors.  It's unique & does display some sort of movement.  It does have a strong impact than the previous wave in terms of poses.  Sayaka has been in & out of her box at times.  I display her only during the summer season.  When September comes, back in the box she goes.  The reason why I do this is because I find it weird to have a figurine in a swimsuit to be display during non-swimsuit seasons, especially winter.  Also, I'm not some sort of pervert that likes to look at those kind of figurines all season long (I apologize to the perverts of this area that I offended).

The workmanship of this figurine is no doubt well done.  Although the figurine is quite plain, Kotobukiya manages to put some effort into the small details.

Time to rate this figurine!  I give it a 7.5/10 due to the plain design & strange pose that Sayaka is in.  But the pose does has its strong points in being unique & fill with some kind of movement.

If you plan to have Sayaka Takai Swimsuit Version on your shelf, she can still be obtain from online auctions for a low price.  I have seen many stores having her in stock.  My assumption is that she's collecting dust at those warehouses.  I don't think I have seen it being reissued before.
