Introduction

When I first saw this Moetan gashapon set on eBay, I thought it was cute.  I managed to get a set from J-Hobby for a good price.  At that time, Moetan was highly popular & getting this set isn't easy.

Currently, I haven't assemble or open this set since I'm planning to look for a display case to put them in.  Plus, I don't have room at the moment.

Some of the pictures aren't clear & good.  If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them.

Moetan Methodology of English, The Academic Necessity Gashapon Set in package

You probably won't see much in this review, but I should give it out just in case people are planning to get this set.  There are five figurines in this set.  It mostly contains Pastel Ink & Nijihara Ink.  All the gasphaons are scenery based, which gives some life when you display them.

Given what I could see from the pieces inside that bag, the workmanship in terms of molding & painting is pretty good.  Minor bleeds & hardly any noticeable molding problems in terms of holes or bumps.  I've seen these gashapons on display at an anime shop before & they are quite nicely done.  But, I didn't get a very good look at them in terms of close ups or careful inspections.  They are very detailed through.  Even the faces are well done.   But there is one pose where it's a bit ecchi.  It's a gashapon where Nijihara has her pajama bottoms pulled down to reveal her underwear as she lies on the floor.

For the bases, CM's uses those handy study notes that you see Japanese school students use to study for tests.  On them, it somewhat describes what's happening it the sceneries that the gashapons are displaying.  The English sentences are pure English, not Engrish.  But the sentences are quite weird because of the culture background it uses.  Here are a couple examples in the pics below.

Great English learning with otaku content

In terms of the English language & structure, it's pretty good.  But, the sentence's contents are really bizarre.  I don't see how often you would use sentences like that in real life even though the series is an actual learning tool.  It's more of an otaku's fantasy than proper university English education.  But hey, you are still learning English properly here.

Overall Conclusion

Currently, I can't grade the Moetan gashapon set since it's all mixed up in that tight bag.  From what I seen, this isn't bad looking set.  Plus, the display models I've seen are pretty good.  They are pretty big in terms of the base.  I'll redo this review when I assemble them & have the time.

If you are looking for this set, you need a lot of luck.  This gashapon set is extremely hard to find now, even with online auctions.  I did see this set at the store that was displaying them & they were selling at a premium.  But now it's long gone.  If you want this set, you better be prepared to pay high prices for this one.

Because of the anime show, CM's decided to re-release this Moetan set in trading figurine form.  Also, they are repaints.  Instead of brown on Ink's school uniform, you get black.  Plus, I think Ark is added to some of the sceneries as well as a new bonus.  However, the price for these is ¥450 each.  If you plan to get this set, repaints & a higher market price due to trading figurine form is your best bet.
