Introduction When J-Hobby had new shipment, I didn't know the store had these Ichigekisacchu Hoi Hoi San Collection Figure Series trading figurines for sale until I saw a customer take them to the counter. Before anyone else got any more, I grabbed the last three boxes. There was no way for me to make a set easily at that point. I understand these sold out fast within the first month of its release. There are no plans announced in re-releasing these. |

The Ichigekisacchu Hoi Hoi San Collection Figure Trading Series come in a nice white box. There are six + three secret figurines in the set. The box shows the three secret figurines shadowed out. You can see them here. I have seen those figurines before & most of them are just variations of the normal ones. I only had 1/6 of the set. Before I show you which three I had, I want to talk about the packaging. As you can see, it's packaged in bubble wrap. It's actually in a bubble wrap bag. To me, this is rare to see companies use bubble wrapping to wrap their trading figures.
Each figurine requires some assembly, which are mainly the arms. The parts are a bit loose to allow some movement, but can fall off if handled roughly. All the trading figurines come with a round black base. Although the pegs are sized differently to help distinguish which foot hole goes to which peg, it requires a good amount of force to put them together. As for the poses, they are pretty good. You have static & dynamic poses for each figurine. They are have a robotic feel to them. I have to admit that the colour used are good. Nice colour tones, especially in Hoi Hoi-San's pink hair. The balance to create the shadows are excellent. But the detailing could use some work. The trading figurines suffer a lot of paint bleeding, especially the black panel lines. Observe the boots & socks. The black isn't even in paint amount. Some parts are lighter or darker than others. Now observe the ears, clothing, & gun. There's quite a lot of bleeding involved, but not too serious. A lot of these are noticeable from a close up though. The letterings on Hoi Hoi-San's shirt are etched in & it's not bad. Pretty clean & readable for letters that small.
The detailing work isn't too bad, except for Kinryu's left eye (see last pic). That is some serious error. Looking at it, I assume the red paint was used as base of the pupil before the white was applied. Or it could have been the artist or machine accidentally put paint there from their brush. Otherwise, the detailing is very clean. The facial expressions are perfect. These are robots with no human facial expression. They all have straight faces. The pupils are drawn nicely to display that these are robots. |

Overall Conclusion The Ichigekisacchu Hoi Hoi San Collection Figure Trading Series are nice trading figurines to own. Personally, I won't go crazy & buy them when you see them right away. They are cute, but a bit expensive on the retail price since they are loose & not painted too well. I had them on display until I sold them away months later. The Ichigekisacchu Hoi Hoi San Collection Figure Trading Series gets a 7.5/10 from me. The trading figurines really give off that robotic feel & are nicely detailed in terms of the colour toning. The turn down would be the poses. Most of them are crouching or kneeing positions, so they may not be exciting to look at at times. Because they have been sold out for a long time now, these trading figurines will be very hard to find. Price wise, I would think it's a bit higher than the retail but not too much. There is a special edition one for a very high price, but it's a very rare find. |
