Introduction

When Gundam Seed was big, I liked Lacus Clyne.  During that time, a lot of people liked that character.  Products of her were massive & I ended up getting this Lacus Clyne figure from eBay.  Probably paid too much for it though.

Some of the pictures aren't clear & good.  If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them.

The Review

Dengeki Hobby Magazine 1/8 Lacus Clyne Box

This Lacus Clyne figurine is actually a trading figurine despite that it has a 1/8 scale.  I didn't think Lacus was really that short.  This figurine is a Not for Sale promo item that came along with the June 2004 Dengeki Hobby Magazine.  It's a bonus item for buying the magazine.  The figurine is from CM's when you look at the parts.  Click on the thumbnail above & you'll get the actual size of the box.  Open the box & you'll get some cardboard protection surrounding the figurine.  Lacus come unassembled with the parts inside a plastic bag.

Lacus from different sides

If I remember correctly, this Lacus figurine isn't too hard to assemble.  It's got no instructions, but you can pretty much assemble it well based on the outline pic on the front of the box.  The figurine does come with a base & supporting stand that attaches to her back.

As for the pose, it's a mixture of static & dynamic.  Static because of the stance & dynamic because of the fluttering clothing & hair.  It's not an exciting pose, but it's an okay one.  A lot of Lacus figurines from that time has her in those clothing fluttering poses.  What makes it more funny is how her feet barely touches the base.  It's on her toes at the most & she's like floating in the air.

The paint job on Lacus isn't too bad for a promo figurine.  The gold trimmings on her clothing are pretty good with some minor bleeding.  The hairpin on her head is painted evenly.  This is the same for all other colours.

The colours are a bit darker than most of the Lacus figurines out in the market.  Not a bad thing, but something that you don't see much.  But the hair is a bit on the bright neon pink side.  But it's got this light shading effect on some parts of the hair.

The molding isn't too bad & it's well made.  The creases on Lacus' clothing is well done to give it a nice effect & wasn't lazily done.  It made constructing the figurine easy too.

The facial work on Lacus' face is a bit weird.  The etching is well done & the molding is cleaning.  But that facial expression doesn't seem like her.  The face is round & isn't something that you are familiar with.

Overall Conclusion

This Lacus Clyne figurine isn't too bad in terms of the workmanship as a bonus promo item.  The pose is quite interesting & weird.  Plus, the face is a bit unique.  As of now, she has never been put back to her box since the day I pulled her out of there.

Rating this special Lacus Clyne bonus figurine, I would give it a 7/10.  The workmanship is excellent in terms of the design, molding, & paint job; especially for a promo item.  The downside of it is its unique pose & face.

If you are looking for this figurine, you will have a tough time finding it.  Since it has been out of production for a long time already & this is a promo bonus figurine from a magazine, it's best to look for it at online auctions.  I'm not sure what the collector's value of this trading figurine is, but I did notice it go down in price.  This is probably because of the over popularity of Lacus & the Seed name going down now.
