Introduction I picked up this Summer Festival Maya Ibuki keychain figure from Sakura Media as a clearance item. If I remember correctly, there are eight keychain figures in this set. So far, I haven't been able to locate the remaining keychains to complete this set & I gave up on them after a long time. UFO prize catcher items aren't easy to find when they are old. Some of the pictures aren't clear & good. If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them. |

The Review This is an UFO prize catcher item in Japan & you can win this from those prize machine that has the lights flashing around the machine. You make the light stop at a certain spot to win the prize. It's kind of roulette in a way. Maya comes with a mini base as you see in the pic. She can be removed from the base & you can use her as a keychain. When you don't want her to be attached to your key, schoolbag, etc., you just put her back on that base. The base is actually 1/4 of a full round base. Connect the other three figures from this set together to form a scene. However, I don't remember which three keychains Maya joins with. It's a nice sitting pose that Maya is in; especially with one of those mosquito repellent pigs beside her. Can't say much about the paint job since it's mainly one colour on each clothing parts. But it's not bad. The paint is nice & even. Maya's facial expression isn't bad. It's cute really since she's in SD form. The paint job on the mouth is excellent & her eyes are superb. No paint bleeding. This is quite well done for something this small. |

Overall Conclusion The Summer Festival Maya Ibuki keychain figure isn't too bad. Although it's a simple UFO prize item, it's quite good. I have never use Maya as a keychain & never will. Currently, she's still on display on one of my shelves in a display case. On a scale of ten, Maya gets a 7.5/10. Why I scored it this way was basically the lack of life coming that the keychain itself. Although it looks cute & all, it didn't give too much life. The paint job, however, is extremely good for an UFO prize item. If you do plan to get this or any of the Summer Festival keychain figures, I wish you luck. UFO prize catcher items aren't easy to find when they get old since they are produced in one run only. I brought Maya totally from luck when I found her & I'm kind of regretting it a bit since I can't complete a set now. |
