Introduction

I decided to order this 2007 Death Note calendar from YesAsia after not being able to get another calendar from my first choice, which was Suzuka the manga version.  I grabbed it as a last minute decision as other calendars were running low.  Being a fan of Death Note, I went for this over that anime version.  Basically because of the format style.  I wasn't too sure about the manga designs, but I took the risk nevertheless.

Some of the pictures aren't clear & good.  If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them.

The Review

2007 Death Note Calendar Box

The 2007 Death Note calendar comes in a small plain white box.  Open the box & you will see the calendar sealed in a plastic bag sleeve.  Underneath it is a hard plastic stand to hold the calendar.  The stand has the Death Note logo on one of the legs & you need to fold it in half a bit with force as it is made with some sturdy plastic.  The calendar is a desktop format

There are six boards with each side covering one month.  It covers the entire year of 2007 from January to December.

As you can see, the character designs are again the manga version.  Most of them has Light Yagami.  Although I don't read the manga, I know that all the illustrations aren't new.  They are reprints of the manga; mostly from the covers.  Looking at the illustrations, I'm not too fond of them.  Mainly because I don't really like that art style.  Another reason is probably because I'm too use to the anime designs.  The boards are similar to shitajikis as they are hard & glossy smooth.

Overall Conclusion

The 2007 Death Note calendar is pretty nice & something that fans of the series may want.  The drawings are quite colourful & gives off that manga feel.  Plus, each month has a different artwork which is great.  You don't have to see the same picture for two months.

On a scale of ten, I give the 2007 Death Note calendar a nine.  The high score comes from the beautiful artwork in terms of the designs & background.  Plus having a different illustration each month increases the value of the calendar.  Also, it uses the same materials found from shitajikis.  The lost point is from the reused artwork.  Plus the fact the art style isn't my thing.  Technically, that's not the reason for the lost point.

If you are major fan of Death Note & love the artwork from the manga, this is a calendar that you should get.  Even if you don't like using calendars, I would suggest keeping it as artwork.  Of course, this calendar is most likely produced on the first production run & is out of print.  This calendar is quite hard to find now.
