Introduction

When I first saw this Ren PVC figurine on the web, I thought it looked cool.  The swaying of her hair & that melon bread she's sitting on is cute.  I was hesitating to buy it at first due to price.  I didn't have a lot of money at the time.  But I managed to get it from an online anime store that has now closed down after thinking it over for a long time.

There are two versions of Ren out there: a normal face & an open smiling face.  The normal face version is the most common one as the smiling version is only available through Chara-Ani.com's website.  Some stores managed to get this version.  The suggested retail price is the same for both versions.  The figurine is actually made by Organic.

Currently, I haven't taken Ren out of the box yet as I don't have room to display her at the moment.

Some of the pictures aren't clear & good.  If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them.

1/8 Ren in package & bubble wrapped

You won't see much in this review, but I should give it out just in case people are planning to get Ren.  As you can see, it's still bubble wrapped.  So, you pretty much can't see what the figurine is like.  Also, I don't know what version this is.  I assume it's most likely the normal version since I brought this at release date.  I haven't seen the actual product out of the box before with my own eyes, but I can tell you what I know.

The paint used on Ren's clothing is indeed metallic using pearl effects.  I've seen the normal version in its package at an anime shop & the paint is quite beautiful.  As for the base, it's indeed a melon bread.  If you have seen the promos of the product, it doesn't use that stick that's connected between the melon bread & whatever is at the bottom.  Instead, it uses I think a blue upside-down cup-like shaped object.  Personally, that's a good thing.  I don't see how a stick can hold up that much weight from Ren.  That was one concern I had when I thought about purchasing this figurine.

Overall Conclusion

Currently, I can't grade the 1/8 Ren PVC figurine since it's all bubble wrapped.  I'll redo this review when I assemble them & have the time

If you are looking for Ren PVC figurine, you need to look for it on online auctions.  I don't think there are any stores that are carrying this anymore.  Even Chara-Ani.com doesn't have it anymore.  The market price for the figurine varies.  It can go as as low as US$30 to as high as US$40.  That's for both versions too.  However, you would find the normal face version more since that was produced more in the market.
