Introduction

This Chobits Stationary Set came with the Pioneer/Geneon R1 DVD Vol.1 Limited Edition Box that I brought when it came out as a first press release.  Initially, I wanted to get the box.  Since I was one of those hardcore collectors at the time, I decide to spend a couple more bucks in getting the next level up.

Some of the pictures aren't clear & good.  If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them.

Chobits Stationary Set Box

This is how the stationary set came packaged.  If I remember correctly, these were issued in Japan as promo items to something that I don't remember.  I know for sure it wasn't the R2 DVDs.  Everything is in Japanese with no English translations.  Geneon managed to get Imotani to produce some more or get the dead stocks from them.

The Chobits Stationary Set

As you can see, the case is pink & white.  The top of the case is the same picture of Chii as the packaging.  The case is quite nice with it's oval shape & is made as a standard stationary case.  The case is made of ABS.  Opening the case isn't hard as it looks in terms of where the lift tab is.  By the way, the whole set is made in Japan.

Opening the case, you will see all the contents.  You get a letter opener, a eraser stick, a 0.5mm mechanical lead pencil with one piece of lead inside, & scissors with sharp cutting blades.  Looking at it, you would think this is a set for kids & I won't disagree with you.  But the scissors are actually sharp.  Also, the pencil doesn't have an eraser on the top.  Nevertheless, it feels that this set is complete in terms of the stationary instruments you would normally use.  However, it doesn't contain a ruler.

Overall Conclusion

The Chobits Stationary Set is quite cute, but a bit girly to use.  I actually keep this stored away in my closet with my other collectable items.  I won't dare to use it since it's too cute.  Plus, the eraser would be hard to get when you need to refill it.

It feels weird to grade a stationary set, but here goes.  The Chobits Stationary Set gets an eight.  The design is cute & the instruments included are satisfying enough to be use for daily activities.  The downside about this is that this is too girly for a guy to use.  It's too cute & it's pink.  Chobits was designed to target the 18 - 26 male audience, so I have no idea why they would make a stationary set that's way too cute for the men to use.  Plus, it would have been nice to include a ruler & a eraser refill to the set.  But since this is a promo item, you can't really expect too much from it.
