To the Honourable the President and Members of the Senate in Parliament assembled: The Petition of the undersigned shows: "I the undersigned, agree that discrimination based on size (weight and height) is one of the last legally allowed forms of discrimination in Australia and this should be changed. "I recognize that an increasing percentage of the Australian population is considered 'overweight' or 'obese.' "I agree that, at this very moment, hundreds of thousands of Australians are dieting to lose weight and reshape their bodies. "I agree that public health officials decry the dangers of obesity and cite statistics that the Australian population is getting fatter. "I appeal to our Senators and Elected Representatives to protect us from the size discrimination which runs rampant in Australia in many forms. "I appeal to our Senators and Elected Representatives to lobby on my behalf to have the term "size (weight and height)" added to existing anti-discrimination laws." Your Petitioners ask/request that the Senate should: Add the term "size (weight and height)" to existing anti-discrimination law terminology (the same as race, creed, gender, age, etc).
