BACKGROUND : MOTH

Missionaries Of The Homeless (MOTH)
is an organization composed of volunteers committed to help shelter, feed and clothe with human dignity our less fortunate and less privileged brothers and sisters. Feeding programs and build camps such as this year's MOTH Build-Camp'05 is our Mission-In-Action activity as a response to restoring human dignity. As an expression of our commitment to raise the standards of the poor and oppressed, we continue to volunteer and work with various non-government organizations such as Gawad Kalinga, Habitat For Humanity, Anawim Lay Mission Foundation and others. This year, the missionaries will be working in partnership with Anawim Foundation to build new structures for the accommodation of Anawim's growing population.

BACKGROUND : ANAWIM

Anawim Foundation is a lay mission foundation founded by Bro. Bo Sanchez in the early 1990's. Since its humble beginnings, the foundation has been a home to those rejected by society - handicapped, orphaned, abused young and old alike. Thus, in 1999, the Department of Social Welfare and Development duly recognized the Center as a home for the poor and abandoned elderly. To date, Anawim continues to be a home for the needy - giving the poor and abandoned that bread, shelter, clothing or that moment of attention.

JOIN US IN THE MISSION!

Just the disciples were called as partners in the mission, so are we: "for it is in giving that we receive, in dying that we are born to eternal life." The MOTH Build-Camp is an opportune time for different sectors of society to actively participate in making a difference in the lives of our less fortunate brothers and sisters. Bound together through our mutual dependence on one another, God calls us - regardless of our religion, gender, age, ethnic origin or traditions - to help change the condition of our poor and oppressed brothers and sisters. For the Lord says in Matthew 25:40,
"If you did it for the least of your brethren, you did it for Me."
WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN THE MISSION : JOIN MOTH Build-Camp'05

AN INVITATION

Greetings in the Name of the Lord of Hosts!

The Missionaries Of The Homeless (MOTH) will be having its MOTH Build-Camp'05 from August 8 to September 8, 2005 at Anawim Center, Brgy. San Isidro Montalban, Rizal.

The MOTH Build-Camp is a "bayanihan-spirit" house building activity packed with team building exercises, fellowship, "extra-challenge" game competitions and interaction with the elderly poor residents of Anawim.

In this regard, we would like to invite your organization, group, company, etc. to be a part of this Mission-In-Action "Build-Camp" where different volunteer sectors unite to build shelter for the homeless poor. No registration fee is required. Simply bring your team and your own extra supplies. Attached herewith are the details and schedule of the activities for your reference.

We appreciate and welcome you in advance for your compassion and heroic decision to join us in helping and sheltering our needy brothers and sisters. As Saint Mother Teresa said:

"I can do what you can't do. You can do what i can't do. Together, we can make a difference."

The five-week activity will have three camp slots per week. Slot-1: Monday-Tuesday; Slot-2: Wednesday-Thursday; Slot-3: Friday-Saturday. The team has the option to join at least one slot or to repeat another camp slot in the following weeks if desired. Choose a schedule not in conflict with yours and coordinate with Aj or Jaja for your final camp slot schedule at telephone no. 4388881. Volunteers who are also willing to share their means of transportation (jeepney, van, etc.) can also get in touch with the above-mentioned persons. You may invite or refer to us other teams you know who might be interested to join us in our mission.

Words from Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta:

- The work should be a "Love-in-Action", "something beautiful for God".

- "It will be an obsession for the poor, for the wisdom of the
homeless poor..."

- "We will do it because we love the
homeless poor..."

- "Poverty was not created by God; we have created it - you and I - by our selfishness."

- "What matters is not how much we do, but how much love we put in what we do. Little things done with great love."

- "If it is a work of God, he will take care of it. Otherwise, it is just as well that it should disappear..."

- "We should leave to almighty God every project. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not yet come, and we have only today to know, love and serve Jesus."

- "I live day by day. Yesterday is past. Tomorrow has not yet come. I have only today to love Jesus."
A "Give 'til it hurts" Mission-In-Action

- "Other people are changing the world...  in the mean time, we shall shelter it..."
"Spend the prime of our life, the best days of our life for the Lord - in sheltering the homeless poor, the least of our brethren."
