| Cove Creek High School, at Sugar Grove, N.C. where several of us graduated. I finished in 1944 and my wife Reba, in 1947. Ben and Dixie Rae, my younger siblings, graduated 1948. This and earlier high school structures, served this community, 1922-1965. At that time, a "central" high school for the entire county was opened in Boone, N.C. The original FIRST Cove Creek High School opened in 1922 in this general area. One of my Mother's younger brothers, GREER GLENN, was chosen to serve as principal this first year. There were 12 teachers. This facility has been added to the NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES and is now a community center. |
